I would hate to do that, since I have a plasma TV and I don't want to get burn-in. I may try it with the TV off, though. My normal screensaver is pictures from my photos directory tree.

Same ISSUES here also... Just keep tweaking & testing & experimenting... Obtaining logs and sending them in... Waiting 3 days (HALF-DUPLEX 1920's support communications) to get things resolved... Back & Forth... Over & Over... IMO, without this forum this Sage stuff would be DEAD in the water... and at the VERY LEAST it should be sold as an EXPERIMENTER KIT... and labeled "SageTV HeathKit"... What if ALL your TV's... Appliances... Stereo's... Ipods... etc... etc... needed this much tweaking... You would need a FULL TIME geek just to keep it running... This stuff is OK for the Experimenter... But definitely NOT ready for PRIME TIME...

Well, it certainly isn't for the shake and bake crowd.

But then, I don't know of anything better....do you? That does as much? That is as extensible? That leverages the work of others?

No, no, and no.

This is why I find myself on STV. Because I can at least choose whether I get a firmware upgrade. I can choose if I want to change my interface. And I can use third party products to extend my infrastructure and features if I choose to. If you have a Tivo, or a Comcraptic box, or FIOS or (saints preserve us) MythTV, the most that you have is better stability.

That said, I wouldn't be sad if Narflex would produce a reference platform for the Sage TV server. CERTIFIED HARDWARE in a specific configuration. That way if you want to branch out beyond it, you take the risk yourself and pay in the form of stability.

I would agree. There are things in SageTV that I find annoying, but it is outweighed by the parts of it I like. I find similar problems with Microsoft Windows, there are parts of it that I don't like, but in the whole, it is worth it.

Anyway, I don't know how long it takes to hear from tech support, but I am still waiting. I wonder if my problem is that common with the HD-200. I had to unplug it again when I got home today.

I have seen the same HD-200 lockup issue several times but I haven't been able to find a sequence of actions that reproduces it. I just got my unit last week and it has happened enough times to be slightly annoying. My configuration has the HD200 as an extender connected to SageTV server on my PC. At least one lockup was during a slide show using random order and random transition. Another time I was watching an mpg movie file when the video locked up. I hit the power button and the active light (red) turned off. I tried to power on and only the green network light blinked. No video, no sound. Had to unplug/replug to reset. I had one lockup while navigating menus. A friend at work also sees these lockups (and he doesn't use SageMC)

I'm new to SageTV so I'm not sure what configuration info is helpful/relevant. Here is some basic info:
SageTV 6.5.7.201 (on Windows XP SP3)
Java JRE 1.6.0_11
SageMC 6.3.8a
HD200 firmware 20081230
Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 1600 Tuner Card
DHCP
HDMI video
SPDIF optical audio

If I can gather enough data I would open a bug report too but like others I can't seem to narrow in on the triggers.

So far EVERYONE that has submitted a support request or a bug report on this has had the issue resolved by either upgrading to the latest firmware (20081230) or by upgrading to V6.5 as their server.

And if you are using the latest firmware and a V6.5 server (if running as an extender) then please file a bug report. http://sagetv.com/bugs.html

I'm receiving my HD200 in 2 days and I'm over the moon in anticipation. I'll make sure that I definitely have the latest firmware up. I have already deployed V6.5 on my server. On a side note, I noticed that a poster above using HDMI for video and optical for audio - is that necessary? I had planned on running both out of the HDMI connection.

Yes, HDMI carries both video and audio. Unfortunately for me, my receiver (old Yamaha HTR-5250) does not support HDMI (or component) and my TV (Sony KDS-55A3000) does not pass-thru 5.1 on its optical output. I would like to upgrade the rest of my system but I'm taking one step at a time.
