record favorite only once per day?

The News Hour with Jim Lehrer apparently does not have any episode-specific ID numbers.

As such, Sage wants to record it twice at night (6-7 and 7-8) and again the next morning.

I want to keep the last three days worth of this show. If I leave it at "keep at most 3", I will have three duplicate airings.

My choices:

a) set up a manual repeating recording. downside is that I don't get the keep at most feature (I think).

b) set keep at most = 9. downside is that I use up 3 times the space

c) SageTV gets a new feature: that I only want my favorite to be recorded when it airs between 6 and 7 pm.

Anybody have thoughts or ideas?

Thanks,
Stuart

Are all those airings on the same channel? If not, wouldn't this get covered by the expected ability to be able to set a favorite to record only certain channels, once that feature is implemented?

We get 3 different public television stations from Comcast DC. Each airing is from a different station.

I did not realize that such a feature was coming. I guess that would solve this particular problem. Thanks for pointing that out!

I should have said that I _think_ it is coming, unless I've misunderstood past postings on such problems.

Yes, here it is in the original release notes (in the first email notice, not online that I know of):

Well I just put in a request for both features, just in case. If we can have just one of the two, the one you saw in the release notes would be my preference, I guess, since it has other purposes as well as the solution to my problem here.

I just realized that The Nightly Business Report is aired twice a day by one station. I would definintely need the time-based pegging to be able to control for that one.

Yes, I have the same problem with the Daily Show, and channel selection wouldn't help much there. So far, I've just set the favorites to keep only two episodes; as long as I keep up within the next day, it works out.

Something tells me that limiting a Favorite to a station may come soon (just a guess though ). Also, I would have to guess that limiting a Favorite to a specific time is possible. We shall have to see .

I too found out that this is a needed feature. Dennis Miller CNBC is repeated nightly, but comes up as new when it is in fact a rerun.

I like to record the local news at 6 & 11. Problem is the 6 o'clock news is repeated on a different channel at 7 PM and again after that. The 11 o'clock news is repeated at 2:35.
