HD-PVR with SageTV
Is there a step-by-step guide to getting Sage to work with the HD-PVR?
Must one install ArcSoft TME to get it to work with SageTV? This is on a WHS box. I'm still trying to get this setup to work with many weeks of no success. |

I just did this today:
I'm assuming that you installed SageTV via the Add-ins. Download the current drivers from Hauppauge. The drivers I installed are v1053. Are you planning on using the ir blaster to control your STB? If so download and install hdpvr_sched.exe (you need a .dll for the IR blaster program to install). Also download and install ir32.exe and 7_1_26365_irblast.exe. You also need to have Java installed on your WHS server. If you're not going to playback your recordings with your WHS server you don't need the Arcsoft software. I'm using a client and a HD200 extender. Once you have the drivers, ir software and Java installed start up SageTV. Either RDP in or use your mouse/keyboard/monitor on the WHS server to start up the Sage interface by clicking on Start>All Programs>SageTV. You can go through the configuration wizard or go directly to "set up video source". You will most likely get errors if you try and watch video. I just kept on clicking through until I got to channel set-up and there you select your program guide. If you want playback on the server (hooked up to a TV) then you need to have the Arcsoft TME installed or at least the codecs but I don't know how to install just that. I was able to install SageTV, add the HDPVR, move over all my recordings to the new server and drop in the wiz.bin from my previous server to have all my old recordings show up. Good luck and I hope this helped you.

I'm just about to take the WHS plunge w/the HD-PVR too and Ive found the info a bit scattered so I appreciate your post.
I've wondered if waiting for PP2 is worthwhile. Quote:
I've got 4 drives of recordings that i need to move to one (or more) new drives so that will take awhile I dont think i will "pool" the WHS' drives though. Note sure I need/want that. Im trying to decide on internal vs USB recording drive(s) Indeed. But may be back... |
