I hope <fingers crossed> to be able to add the PM and drive over the weekend.

Pat,
I'm glad you got your stuff. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I hope everything turns out good. If you have any questions about your setup just let me know. I will try to help if I can.

@Chuck
Glad this is working well for you.

@Pat
I hope that your friend is OK.

Just to remind that the Sil Steelvine manager software can be run as a front end on any PC that can see the server over the network.

There is a windows service that needs to run on the server (steelvine.exe) but the GUI communicates with it over TCP/IP. By default it connects to "localhost" but it will connect to the server's IP address from a remote PC (on my setup I need to put the IP address in manually, it will not resolve the PC name).

This is how I run it, full administration of the Raid is done remotely from my normal office PC.

That is good to hear too.

I'd still like to know if the cluster sizes on the mirrored drive match the the first drive (it should) and I'd still like to see before/after drive benchmarks but it is interesting...

Eric,
It's working good so far. I'm still figuring out the email options and haven't gotten around to the remote manager. Thanks for reminding me about that.

Reviving a long dead thread to see if there are any updates/regrets about this setup? Still worth pursuing?

I like my setup so far. I have since made changes but it has nothing to do with the setup. I like to tinker/upgrade things!
