HD200 remote frequency?

Oh, Bog I hope I haven't just incurred an accidental $60 upcharge on my HD200.

What is the frequency of this dingus? Please, be kind to me and tell me that it isn't 56khz. Please tell me this is a standard frequency range device.

Otherwise I'm going to have to spend YET ANOTHER $60 on a new USUIRT to reach in to the 56K range.

Huh? What does a USB-UIRT have to do with the HD200?

A USB-UIRT is a remote receiver/blaster that can end up on a SageTV server or a PC client. On the client it's used to control Sage and on the server it can also be used to blast channel changes to a set top box. The HD200 has a IR receiver built in that works with the remote that comes with it, a spare Hauppague remote you may have laying around or, with the latest firmware, a MCE remote.

36khz

Also the 56khz USBUIRT is on the IR reciever, the normal transmitter can do it already AFIK this is normally used for Dish Network sat boxes.

WHEW!

Thanks.

So that everyone doesn't think I've completely slipped my clutch here's my scenario: I think the HD200 remote stinks. It's fine for being able to say that it 'comes with a remote'. But that's about it.

My wife has a yen for her Tivo remote, which I concur with: its the best piece of industrial design to come along in a decade; In my opinions, possibly better than the Ipod.

So I'm using the Tivo remote to send commands to a host with a USBUIRT to catch the incoming tivo remote signals, grind them up with Melloware's Intelliremote and then spit out commands to the Display, the Receiver, the HD200, etc. So I can punch one button and have certain macros fire. (This has certain benefits over the Harmony 'super remotes' in that the remote doesn't have to be facing ALL of the equipment for the entire sequence of ir tranmissions. A 'fire and forget solution', so that if the USBUIRT receives the one incoming signal, the rest of the chain of commands are essentially guaranteed to get to their respective devices.

Well, that was the idea anyway. Much of the hardware (including the HD200) is going to be hidden from view. The USBUIRT lets me do this. The Harmony does not.

So that's my sad story. I was freaked out that the HD200 much operate in the high freq range that the stock, non-augmented USBUIRT couldn't reach.

I agree I am definately a Harmony hater, you might check out EventGhost too very powerful.

That's why you get an RF extender (like for the Harmony or URC) or an IR repeater

You can program the HD200 to respond to almost any remote.

Stanger:

Umm....program the HD200...how? I'd prefer to load the complete button signal set of the HD200 remote in to Intelliremote so that it is available to me for programming. But I'm still intrigued by the idea.

Regardless, that still doesn't deal with my needs for transmitting ir to the display (visible, necessarily) and the Amp/HD200 (concealed.)

I don't have a problem with the Harmony...its just not the right solution for me. Though at the moment, due to some kind of bug with the Intelliremote software that I'm working on with Melloware, the USBUIRT isn't working either. And software like Girder or EventGhost is like crushing a gnat with a cannon.

Suffice it to say, I'm relieved. And eventually, my wife and I will be back to just one remote. My design philosophy mirror's Isaac Asimov's: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from Magic."

Oh I misunderstood I thought you were controlling it via it's ethernet interface I do this no need for the IR reciever and the HD200 to be anywhere near each other.

I too use an RF remote, the Snapstream Firefly and in the case of the MVP an Nvidia PersonalCinema remote. Usually for this though I use a wifi enabled PDA. As it's easier to jump from client to client and the soft buttons are unlimited, oddly my PDA wasn't much more then a RF Harmnoy setup but IMHO lightyears more functional.

You can program SageTV (and the HD200 in standalone mode) to map a SageTV command to an infrared signal. That signal can come from alomost any remote you choose to use.

Setup>Detailed Setup(or advanced setup in stand alone)>commands>Link Infrared/Keystroke to SageTV Command

Well, I'll dig in to this and see if that is the best solution. It would certainly get me moving faster than waiting on Melloware (who in fairness, has been very responsive.)
