ClearQAM setup, help?

OK So I have moved to a new neighborhood that has about 40 clearQAM channels that both my HDTVs can tune and I want to take advantage. I have a hauppauge 1600 and 1800.

A few questions:
1) Is there a way to tell the tuners what channels are available instead of scanning? It takes 2+ hours for me to unhook all the splits, run cable straight to my sagetv box, then scan for digital channels (almost 2 hours for the scan alone). Then rinse and repeat for the 2nd digital tuner (4-5 hours total). I have made lists from my HDTVs which scan in like 90 seconds of what channels are available.

2) what does “QAM_FRQ_CACHE.ENABLE” do? When I create this file and do the scan, it scans in about 20 seconds and finds no channels.

3) What is a good amplified splitter(s)? Coming from outside the house I need cable split to 2 rooms, 1 to the office for only a cable modem (but needs top signal quality) and another to the living room for my sagetv box. Then at the back of the sagetvbox it needs to split 3-4 ways for the hauppauge inputs.
