spec'ing out a streaming server

Further to my question of network PQ, I have some other questions about the perfect setup.

I was looking at using one of the dell power edge servers with two capture cards and 8 clients.

My questions are:

Is there a preferred chipset to use

If network streaming is only used, does it matter if P250 or P350 are used?

If the server ends up having 4 or 5 capture cards in it, would it be better to use P250 or P350

after reading the stability thread, it would seem that P250 is more stable than P350

thank you,

simon.

Intel (not an issue if you're getting a Dell. Some have reported problems with more than 1/2 tuners on 3rd party chipsets

If you're not connecting the 350 to a TV, don't waste your money.

See above, plus, try to make sure you get all the same version 250s, preferably v16 (no heatsink) since they are the ones still being produced. Shouldn't be a big deal since it seems these are what the locals (CC, CompUSA) are selling now.

I doubt that's true in general, but also that's not really comparing like products. Stability problems with the 350 are probably related to a) sticking a 250 in with it and b) the TV out, neither of which will apply to you.

Good luck
