Question on WHS and SageTV Media Server V6.5 for WHS

I have a WHS and have purchased SageTV Media Server V6.5 for WHS. After I install it on the WHS via the Add-in function of the console, is there anything else I need to do to set it up. I see it listed among the Console tabs and it says it's running but didn't know if there was anything else to do or adjust?

I'm assuming no need to RDC into the WHS and run SageTV and set it up but wanted to make sure I did it correctly.

Thank

Make sure to install the java runtime on the WHS server, 1.06_12 is the latest. Now that it is installed yo have to configure SageTV to add tuners, call out the recording and Import video directories, etc. Start up Placeshifter on another PC or fire up an extender and it should start up the wizard to walk you thru that.

I often remote in to test or configure Sage on WHS so I install java, codecs, decoders, and DX9 too. You don't have to, usually, but it's nice to be able to, imo.

Cool. Thanks guys. So, I need to install the latest Java, which I will do via RDC. Then, just plug my HD200 in, connect to TV and network and the configuration wizard should come up on the HD200's screen and walk me through the settings for the SageTV server software on the WHS? If that's correct, then very easy to do.

What's the advantage of installing the other things suggested, i.e. codecs, decoders, and DX9?

I'm only using this to stream ripped DVDs from my WHS (a HP MediaSmart server) and stream music from it. No TV recording or streaming.

The advantage is that you can configure and test from the WHS, that's about it. I've used it to see if media that won't play on my remote client will play on the server.

If you haven't already, many people upgrade the RAM in the HP MS servers.

YMMV...

Which version of Java do I need to install on my WHS? I want to make sure I install the correct one that works for WHS and I don't screw up my WHS.

I RDC'd into my WHS and see that I currently have Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_13.

Thanks
