customization idea - "Paid Program" eliminator

As the father of a newborn, I have found myself channel surfing in the wee hours of the morning a lot. Don't get me started on whether channels that I pay for should be allowed to just do 6 solid hours of [info]commercials, but one nice thing they seem to do is call them "Paid Program".

I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to write a customization that hides channels in the guide that are currently showing something with a title of "Paid Program"?

Can anyone shoot holes in this idea or expand upon it?

I guess the 1st question would there be anything in the program guide which eludes to that? (ie paid programming, infomercial and such).

2nd question: could this be done (don't have that answer).

Often the guide does say "paid programming" but it's easy enough to ignore without having to hide them. That said, I might hide it if there were a plugin just because they're all useless and annoying.

I know there is a add-on which changes the items on the guide different colors (color coded). I guess you could look into to see if it has paid programming. I remember sports, news, movies, etc.

There is also a favorite channels list plugin that you could use to set up a 'Late Night Surfing' channel list that excludes channels that run paid programming.
