Fan Art not working in 6.5.11 Beta

So I just upgraded to the 6.5.11 beta yesterday because of other issues I was having with Sage, but now Fan Art isn't working. I make sure that media backgrounds are enabled and that the path to the fan art hasn't changed. Am I doing something wrong or does something need to be fixed to allow it?

Thanks

Fanart works fine in 6.5.11. Make sure if you're using a central folder that it is enabled in the SageMC setup under paths. If you're not using a central folder yo need to disable that. Make sure you're using the latest SageMC and java 6. (There is a 6.3.8b STV file out there.)

Gerry,
I haven't changed anything with my setup. All the fan art folders are still in the same location. I just did the update and then restarted the mvp's and noticed that they can't see the fan art anymore. I just checked the client on the server and it is working correctly. Do I need to re-load the STV package once I update Sage?

Thanks

After you updated the server did you reboot? SageMC shouldn't require a STV reload but depending what gets updated from the Sgae release you made need to reboot the server especially since it is the mvp's that are the issue.

I just restarted my server completely and the MVP's aren't showing fan art. I just tested my placeshifter laptop and it is showing fan art.

Any other ideas?

Anybody have any ideas on this one?

A couple of other things I just tried. I moved my extender properties file out of the client directory and did a hard reset on my extender. When it booted up Sage created another .properties file for my extender that was only 1 kilobyte. So I know that there are no old settings in this file. I told Sage to use the SageMC STV. I then enabled media based backgrounds and gave Sage the path to my Fan Art. First I gave it the path to the central folder and I got this in the logs:

Sun 3/15 16:45:00.330 Could not locate D:\SageTV\Fan Art\The Dead Zone.jpg

Then I told it the full path to my TV directory and I got:

Sun 3/15 16:55:00.110 Could not locate D:\SageTV\Fan Art\TV\The Dead Zone.jpg

The Fan Art is working perfectly fine on my Server using the client there and using placeshifter.

Thanks

Support for storage of fan art with the media files will be dropped in the next release. It will exclusively use a central folder. The new release will also be using a completely new (improved) method for looking up the fan art images thanks to stuckless. There will be a coordinated update of evilpenguin's and stuckless' metadata tools that will allow automatic downloading of fan art images to the new file structure, so don't worry about reorganizing your fan art for now. This should help clear up a lot of issues.

Aloha,
Mike

You need to use UNC paths I believe. I don't think the extender knows what a D: drive is.

Actually the extender should know what D: is. It is running directly on the server so it would be the D: on the server.

Sorry. I always use UNC and specify the paths. I would hazzard to guess then with jpaddock3000's specs showing Vista on the server that it will turn out being a permissions problem.

Would it be a permission issue if it works on Placeshifter? Also, everything was working fine on Sage 6.5.9. Once I upgraded to 6.5.11, that is once Fan Art stopped working. I will give the everyone group read control to the directory(s) and we will see what happens. I also noticed that there is the 6.5.12 out and there is a fix to make it work with SageMC. Any issues with that one and Fan Art?

Edit: The Everyone group already has read rights to that directory and sub directories.

Yes. Wait for the next release. As I said before, we are completely reworking the fanart lookup routines.

Aloha,
Mike

Oh, sorry. I didn't quite understand your previous post. Got it now though.
Any idea on the next release date?
Thanks

If a traveler decided to take a day-long (24hrs in his frame of reference) round trip in his rocket ship at a velocity of 0.99 times the speed of light, the next SageMC version would likely be released by the time he got back.

Aloha,
Mike

Edit: For extra credit, how far could he have gone?

speed = distance/time therefore
distance = speed x time
distance = (speed of light x 0.99) x (time in hours x 60 x 60)
distance = ((3x10'8) x 0.99 ) x (24x60x60)
distance = 25660800000000m or 25660800000km

(assuming he had enough fuel in his tank and that this is a bloke in the rocket!)

I was never any good at maths so can someone mark this please and tell me where I went wrong.

I'm obviously not a rocket scientist.......

Does time slow down the closer you get to the speed of light? If not, see you tomorrow.

Yes. Time slows down as you approach the speed of light (see Lorentz Factor).

15,933,851,109.792 miles or almost 24,901.5 round trips around the equator.

You're correct.

I was actually thinking of a linear trip. If you flew in a straight line, you could go half that distance before having to turn back. That works out to 12,951,034,185.6km, or a little more than twice the distance to Pluto.
