Question H.264 reference frames?

This is a question primarily for Narflex or Opus4 if they read this thread.

In reference to this post about the new H200 beta firmware and core change #4....

4. Increased number of image reference for H264 to match profile 5.1.
...and a continuation of this thread...

Does that mean you've increased the specs that the HD200 can handle in regards to H.264? I assume it doesn't handle the entire specification for High Level 5.1, but perhaps a slightly lower bitrate & resolution. What are those limits? Surely you don't mean the HD200 supports 300Mb and 4096x2048 resolution!

Also, at what resolution and frame rate did you "up" the REF limit to?

The resolution of supported files is not changed, only the size of the decoded picture buffer is changed so that more frames can be used as reference. I would highly recommend following level 4.1 for any new encoding for better compatibility.

What exactly are the reference frames allowed per x/y resolution now? Sure, I could figure it out with hours of trial & error, but surely Sage knows.

It should be the maximum allowed number which is 16, even at 1920x1080.
