Are you saying Winter Hill isn't in the list? Or do you not see a list of transmitters at all?

I do not see a list of transmitters at all. It just asks for a country and language

Ok, your not doing something right when you scan for channels. I can't remember the procedure now as its been a long time since I've done one. Hopefully someone will see this and tell you how to scan but ultimately you need to get to the list for it to work.

It would probably be helpful to know what tuner you have. IIRC analog tuners just scan for channels, its the DVB-T ones that ask about transmitter locations. I could be wrong though, Its ages since I did it

thanks for the response. I'm not sure that my original question was valid as on restarting XP the list came up and I was able to tune to all the available channels. I am using an old Compro US DVB-t usb stick and it works perfectly up to a point. powering up the PC and starting Sagetv I get an error -2.0x80004005, I presume becaue Sage cannot find my device however if I restart XP rather than powering off and then restart Sage everything works well, all the channels are available andd I can use all sage's features. If anyone has a solution it would be appreciated

cheers

I've not had this problem as my server stays on 24/7 however I do remember seeing plenty of posts about waking a PC from sleep and USB tuners not coming back up. I'm sure if you do a search you should find the solution.
