Hi,

All fixed after I reinstalled the xmltv import software.

No idea what went wrong or why, probably nothing to do with the plugin?

Thanks,

David

The WFE does insert its own EPG plugin.

Because there can be only one the WFE acts as a wrapper around any existing one.

In Sage.properties there is a line which looks something like this: (cannot remember the full name I'm at work)

Code:
epg_import_plugin=xmltv.plugin
after WFE install should become

Code:
epg_import_plugin=uk.co.mdjcox.epgplugin.EPGPlugin
orig_epg_import_plugin=xmltv.plugin
So the WFE EPG plugin can create the XMLTV one.

I suspect that this did not happen properly.

Reinstalling XMLTV importer will set it back to

Code:
epg_import_plugin=xmltv.plugin
and so break EPG for web feed encoder channels.

But then a Repair (SageTV V6) or disable/enable of WFE plugin (SageTV7) will reapply the WFE change.

WFE keeps a trail of backups of Sage.properties so you can track what changes it made and when and get back to where you started if you need to.

Michael,

I tried again with the same results, each time I have tried to:-

install the plugin
add a channel, but the channel fails appear in the WFE Source line up

Following the above steps the existing video source EPGs stop working correctly or become damaged.

I would like to use the WFE plugin to view a budget IP security cam (EasyN FS-613A-M136 details are at - http://www.easynp.com ), it supports "Motion-JPEG-N", ideally I would like to view this CAM as a channel in SageTV.

Is there anyway to get this type of camera to work with the Web feed Encoder plugin? I can get the camera to send an mpeg.ts stream with:-

(where "username" = the actual username and "password" = the actual password for the webcam)

And I can view the file in VLC, Is there anything I can try in order to get it to work?

Thanks,

David

Not sure whats going on here. Your setup is very similar to mine.

Can you look in Sage.properties

You should have there properties set.

epg/epg_import_plugin=uk.co.mdjcox.epgplugin.EpgPlugin
epg/orig_epg_import_plugin=xmltv.XMLTVImportPlugin

If you existing EPG is broken it will be because the

epg/orig_epg_import_plugin

is not set to be the XMLTV importer

or possiblly (very unlikely)

epg_data_sources/<some number>/disable_plugin=true

instead of false.

(usually US users have use SageTV's EPG data need this - it turns off EPG import plugins)

Was this a SageTV7 install with the plugin manager?

It should be possible to get this to work.

You need to add a channel with a channel type of "TV (slient)"

and put the tuning URL you posted above. Fill in the other fields in that tab too.

The main problem with SageTV being that it refuses to play anything with Video and no audio or vice versa.

The other thing is...

You need to choose a channel offset so the web feed encoder uses logical channels numbers in a range that does not conflict with existing tuners.

The default on installation is to start the channels from 900.

If you installed using the sagetv plugin manager you can set this from the plugin configuration screen. If you installed using the WFE installer you can run the installer again and choose config. Or in both cases you can just edit the config/encoder.props file and change the channel.offset property.

Please let me know what you find - I'm keen to resolve this issue before I release 0.9.7 RC2

Michael,

The Sage.properties looked like:-

epg/epg_import_plugin=uk.co.mdjcox.epgplugin.EpgPlugin
epg/orig_epg_import_plugin=xmltv.XMLTVImportPlugin

No matter what I tried I could not get the WFE plugin to work, eventually I uninstalled SageTV and reinstalled everything.

The first thing I did was to install WFE, I tested the web cam and it work brilliantly as a SageTV channel. for information I used:-

Channel type - "TV (slient)"
and
ULR - "http://@192.168.0.20:80/videostream.cgi?user=username&pwd=password"

When I went on to add the normal video sources I did have to disable the WFE plugin and then run the xmltv plugin to get the line ups into SageTV, once I installed all the sources and EPGs I re-enabled the WFE plugin and it now works.

No idea what the original problem was but it looks like it's working now.

Regrettably I do still have a problem:-

Each time I view the webcam channel from within SageTV (or as a test within the WFE config tool) when I stop viewing the video (change channel etc) the vlc.exe service continues to run, also each time I go back and view the webcam channel a new instance of vlc.exe starts, this continues until there are so many vlc.exe's running there is no CPU resource left and I have to manually shut them down.

Is there a way to automatically stop the vlc.exe service when you stop watchin the video?

It looks like a great plugin in and I can't wait to get it working properly.

Thanks for your help,

David

The vlc sessions should be killed.

I try first with remote command to the vlc session.

If that does not work then I use the OS to kill the VLC session.

That normally does it for most people!

Can you paste me the encoder.log file for a sample tuning from SageTV where VLC does not die on an ordinary stop.

The answer will be in there.

Arrow Web Feed Encoder 0.9.7 RC2

Web Feed Encoder 0.9.7 RC2 (for SageTV V6 or earlier)
  • Make sure we remove any additional encoder props added by SageTV on uninstall.
  • On disable tidy away any partially built network encoder entries
  • Add addSeriesInfoPublic method to the EPG plugin.
  • Improve code for finding free encoder numbers on install.
  • Make lineup send more resilient to internet connection issues.
  • Fix slowness in stopping plugin when SageTV service is stopped.
  • Add missing command scripts for linux.
  • Many fixes to allow webfeedencoder operation in linux.
  • Fix stop encoder button which is occasionally enabled when it should not be.
  • Multi-platform service wrapper support.
  • Send logs to developer menu item added to help menu of the config tool.
  • Remove BBC Backstage EPG grabber which the BBC no longer supports.
  • Update the BBC sample channels so that the EPG comes from radiotime.

The zip file is available here:

http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/2373...sagetv-v6?da=y

The user guide is here:

http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/2373...ser-guide?da=y

Anyone who used my sample BBC channels is advised to recopy those channels from the channels/samples directory into the channels directory and restart the encoder and resend the EPG. This is to fix mnissing EPG because the BBC stop supporting the EPG feed.

Seems it got a connection refused trying to write commands to port 5002 to stop the VLC.

An attempt to return a list of processes returned nothing.

What version of windows are you on?

Also you might consider upgrading to the latest posted today. Got a send logs and config to developer option which would help me.

Michael,

I am running Windows 7 64 bit also I am using VLC version 1.15 which I think is the latest version.

I will update to the latest version of WEF and report back.

Whilst writing is there anyway to change the port from 5002 in order to try another one?

Thanks,

David

The latest version I support currently is 1.0.5.

I suspect this issue of not being able to send commands is why VLC 1.1.x does not work.

Yes the encoder.props file specifies a start port - cannot remember the name of the prop but its well commented. But you don't need to edit prop files...

If you are using the SageTV V7 plugin manager its on the config props for the plugin.

If you did not install using the SageTV plugin manager then you can run the WFE installer again and choose "Configure".

WFE 0.9.7 downloads.

My file sharing provider says I have exceeded my daily bandwidth limit yesterday and blocked a number of WFE downloads.

Please try again later...

Michael,

Brilliant news, it is all working perfectly.

I managed to get hold of a copy of VLC version 1.05 and that seems to have done the trick.

For anyone else looking to use one of these webcams I have a copy of all of the commands that these cameras accept and I have tested a couple of options for addressing the camera and the best seems to be:-

Channel type - "TV (slient)"
and
ULR - "http://@192.168.0.20:80/videostream.asf?user=username&pwd=password&resolution=32"

(where "username" = the actual username and "password" = the actual password for the webcam)

Whilst it is a little pixelated it is still great to be able to view the camera as a channel from within SageTV.

Thanks for all your help, it is a great plugin.

David

Hi,

VLC 1.0.5 is the most recent one that is supported by WFE.

Anything later doesn't work currently.

Don't know why yet - every time VLC release a new version something stops working!

Would love to get your expert opinion... I've got a sharx security ip camera that I use to watch my baby sleep in his crib. I was suggested to try webfeedencoder to incorporate the stream. I got VLC to work a rtsp://machine/feed_mpeg4.sdp stream but can't get it work in webfeedencoder (I don't see the popup window). Hard to figure out what's wrong.

The test window says the encoder started recording but the VLC window says its buffering but then never shows the video.

My camera can do a number of streams but the rtsp mpeg4 stream worked in VLC standalone so I figured that was the place to start:
RTSP MPEG4 stream: rtsp://192.168.0.120/live_mpeg4.sdp
RTSP MJPEG stream: rtsp://192.168.0.120/live_mjpeg.sdp
HTTP MPEG4 stream: http://192.168.0.120/stream.av
HTTP MJPEG stream: http://192.168.0.120/stream.jpg
HTTP ASF stream: http://192.168.0.120/stream.asf
HTTP snapshot image: http://192.168.0.120/snapshot.jpg

Any thoughts?

Also, was wondering, does this show a live feed? or is it more like a recording that has to record and then I play back?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Try a test and then use the config tool help menu and choose "send logs".

You are using VLC 1.0.5 right?

I think there is no real thing as "live" with SageTV as tv channels are dumped to a file and played back.

The feed with be semi-live - there will be a good 15 seconds delay introduced by the tuning time taken by SageTV to display the content that is there.

I also had some success with web cams via online services using tversity UPnP server + evil penguins UPnP browser.

Just did a send log to you. Thanks for taking a look!

Yes, I am using 1.05 VLC

may end up going to DVBLogic to make it work. Seems strange since I can access from browser, from vlc, from quicktime, etc

Wonder if it could be this:

Code:
main debug: connection: Resource temporarily unavailable
main debug: connection succeeded (socket = 740)
access_mms error: error: HTTP/1.0 401 Unauthorized
main warning: no access module matching "http" could be loaded
main debug: TIMER module_need() : 1129.000 ms - Total 1129.000 ms / 1 intvls (Avg 1129.000 ms)
main debug: waitpipe: object killed
main error: open of `http://192.168.0.120/stream.asf' failed: (null)
main error: Your input can't be opened
main error: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://192.168.0.120/stream.asf'. Check the log for details.

also seen in the rstp example:

Code:
live555 debug: DESCRIBE failed with 401: cannot handle DESCRIBE response: RTSP/1.0 401 Unauthorized
live555 debug: authentication failed
live555 error: Failed to connect with rtsp://192.168.0.120/live_mpeg4.sdp
Sometimes login details can be put in the tune URL - have you tried that?
