Capture Single Frame-Where does the pic go?

There is an option on the menu that is displayed while watching TV and it is to capture a frame of the video playing (I assume). I was wondering where I can find the imagine that gets generated in the Sagetv directory. Thanks

If you installed with defaults, then you should find the file "capture.jpg" in your "C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV" subdirectory. FYI - I have only been able to make this work with TV files. When I've tried to capture from DVD playback (playing .VOB file structure) it does not seem to work.

FYI. In the next version, captured images will be placed in the appropriate fan art background folder and named using the time stamp. You can capture as many as you want and they will be used as fan art backgrounds (this was evilpenguins very cool idea).

Frame capture uses the transcoder, which does not work on DVD's.

Aloha,
Mike

Since they don't work on DVD's I guess that's why I couldn't find them.

Thanks for the help.

so some of my single frame captures are nothing but gray blobs or they are frames that are 1-2 seconds ahead of the still on screen.

is there a trick to getting the capture?

I'm not sure about the gray blobs. I'll have to look into that. Unfortunatly, you'll never get a frame-accurate capture. SageTVTranscoder only accepts the time argument with 1 second resolution.

Aloha,
Mike

I just frame capture from VLC. It's pretty straightforward.

Mike,
What happens if there is a central fanart folder but there isn't a folder for that tv show in the fanart folder yet? It appears that no file is created at all, but there is no indication that a file wasn't created.

I'm trying to capture a frame on certain videos (home videos) to be used as the fanart. I used "Capture Frame as Fan Art" option on the video. I do get a "Screen Captured" confirmation, but I don't see an image in the configured Fanart directory (or anywhere for that matter). I do see thumbnails in C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\GeneratedThumbnails.

So, am I doing something wrong, or is there a better way to get a "frame capture" of a video to be the associated thumbnail for the video?
