Dedicating a PVR-150 to Placeshifter or recording on demand???

Hey all,

Like many here, I've been having nothing but grief getting Placeshifter to work with the .ts files created by my HD-PVR. I think it's a combination of the upstream bandwidth and transcoding my server has to do that limits my machine's ability to serve the HD encoded content.

I happen to have an old Hauppauge PVR-150 kicking around that I can hook up to a spare STB. In the past, I found that Placeshifter worked great with the MPEG files encoded by the PVR-150.

Does anyone know if it's possible to tell the Sage server to use the PVR-150 by exception only? Was thinking it would be cool to have a small stock of MPEG movies on hand to watch while traveling, but at the same time, a front end (either the Placeshifter client or Web front end) that I could use to schedule some upcoming recordings with the PVR-150 that would be recorded in MPEG that I wanted to watch while on the road.

I've not yet worked with dual encoder cards so not sure how the system handles two. This functionality might already be available, but wanted to check.

I can't think of a way to do exactly what you want, but you might be able to get away with setting up a second Sage server to record your PVR-150 recordings.

SageMC Might be the answer

I might have found a work-around. I've been playing around with SageMC lately (why didn't I do this sooner). I've loaded the SageMC STV on the Placeshifter client and have been using the transcoding capabilities of the interface to re-encode videos. I'm hoping these re-encoded videos will stream better via the Placeshifter client.
