Will not record all episodes

I have setup a series to record Fringe. It automatically finds the next first run episode and marks it to record. The next episode however it does not mark to record. It shows it as a first run, but the records series icon is not red, it is greyed out....as it is for all the episodes it finds but does not record. It is doing the same thing for The Office.....records the first one but the following week it does not mark to record. Any suggestions?

Are you saying there's only one episode listed in the recording schedule? That's normal. By default, the schedule looks only three days ahead.

If you go to the Favorite Details screen and click the Airings button, it should show you all the airings that match that favorite, including ones that haven't yet been scheduled for recording. If the next episode is in the EPG but not in that list, then you have a problem either with the EPG data or with the way the Favorite is set up.

It lists all the episodes on all the channels...probably 15 of them for each week. Only the next episode is marked to record....the episode a week from then is not marked to record....although I can see it. It shows the greyed out record series icon as opposed to the red record series icon on the episode coming up.

The first one shows the next new episode which it is going to record. The second one shows the following new episode which it does not record.

Greg already explained why none of the ones next week are scheduled to record:

For more info about scheduling Favorites, see this FAQ & the one before it. That info is also in the PDF manual that is installed with SageTV, in chapter 3's Recording Schedule section.

And, SageTV does not recommend changing the scheduling lookahead time in the properties file because it can affect performance. If you change it & have problems, be sure to remember to change it back before contacting support.

Smile Don't worry it'll record

I freaked out with this too. But you can confirm it will be recorded by looking at the program guide, say an episode 2 weeks out. You will see in the top right of the program box with the episode the letter icon "F" which means Sage TV recognizes this as a favorites program and will record it. If you see the letter "M" it means it was set to manually record. It took me a while to realize what the letters meant. I, like you, was going through and manually recording Fringe, Lost etc. because I didn't see a record icon in the box. It was counter intuitive since most dvrs have a simple "Rec" caption to show you which shows are set to record in the future. I thought I possible wasted my $ on sage. Then I wen away for a couple of weeks, came home and found that all the shows were recorded. That's when I realized how Sage displays the info. Many of mt old recordings all had "F" and "M" showing the redundancy and paranoid nature I have in me.

Enjoy.
