Sage TV HD-200 DTS problem

I have a new media extender with the newest firmware connected to a samsung 750 LCD TV. Im using sage TV version 6.5.9.204

It plays AC3 MKV movies and music files just fine but when playing MKV with dts it is silent. The TV handles DTS fine from my Bluray player so I think it is the sage tv. Any help would be appreciated

Most likely DTS works fine with the BluRay player because it decodes it to AC3 for your TV. As of yet the HD200 cannot do this, I am not sure if it is simply a software limitation, or a hardware limitation like with the HD100.

No. The HD200 will not decode the DTS audio into AC3 or Stereo. Your blu-ray player is passing stereo to your tv which is why it works fine. Your computer is again decoding the DTS to stereo.

The bluray player has the option to pass PCM or Bitstream. I also thought it might be the case that the player was passing PCM stereo so I checked the players settings and it has been set it to output bitstream. The tv has its own media server software and limited built in codecs. I was hoping it would handle it.

I have the extender connected with HDMI and set to pass digital bitstream instead of digital PCM. Is it sending undecoded AC3 to the tv?

What is the perpose of the option of PCM or DIgital in the audio settings of the extender?

It's possible that the the BD player is overriding your choice when it does the handshake with the TV and is told the TV doesn't support DTS decoding.

Yes it is.

To decode DD to PCM for devices that can't decode DD.
