Any Way to Schedule HD Preferred Recordings

Is there a way if a show is on two stations at the same time (SD and HD) that I can tell Sage HD is preferred and to record that channel and not the SD station.

I'm pretty sure that's the default behavior. However, you could also tell Sage to only record the HD version by making it assign recordings only to tuners that can support the requested recording quality. I forget exactly where this option is, but I know I was looking at it just last night.

Also, if it's recording the SD version over the HD and using a SD tuner, then it may have been caused by a higher priority favorite needing the HD tuner.

Since Sage uses tuner priority one thing you can do is the following:

Look at your .properties for encoder_merit this will help you see your encoder priority.

If you want for example channel 2 (HD) to record over Channel 2 (SD) you will need to make sure that whichever tuner channel 2 (HD) is on has a higher encoder_merit.

I am using the HVR-2250 which is a dual hybrid tuner so if it is tuner's that get preference then that won't help, if it's sources then it may work.

Thanks

If you set it as a favorite, it will record in HD if possible. but if you set it manually It will choose the station that you chose. One thing that I've noted is that for instance you have the same channels available on analog and digital, it will try to pick the digital channel if possible, if they are all mapped to the same channel in the guide. That may be because of tuner merit however as I haven't actually researched to why.
