One More

Ok,
One last dumb question for the day and then I am done.

I am still very confused about how java ties into using studio and I feel that once I put the java-studio connection together a lot more things are going to make sense.

Can someone explain to me just the basics of how java can be used to manipulate studio?

I'm not sure what you mean by using Java to "manipulate" Studio. You can easily call Java methods and objects from Studio code as described in Chapter 9 of the Studio manual. (This assumes of course that you're familiar with Java coding techniques and runtime libraries.)

I've written a framework that allows advanced Studio users to add custom editing commands to the Studio toolkit by coding in Java. But somehow I don't think that's what you're aiming for this early in your Studio career.

For someone just starting out with Studio, I think the best advice is not to worry too much about Java just yet and focus on working the tutorials, studying the stock STV, and getting comfortable with the Studio programming model and the SageTV API.
