Assuming you have the BMT STVi imported, you need to go to the Program Info screen. This is accomplished based on your TVE settings using either the OK or PLAY button while you have an episode selected. Once in the Program Info screen, the menu button will bring up the manual metadata/fanart search you're looking for.

There are some shows BMT can not automatically find the metadata. A little manualy help is required.

Does BMT integrate to TVE in this way?
Up until the latest TVE (1.1.40) you are correct that you were able to call up the BMT lookup. In the latest TVE i recreated the options menus and that is one of the things that was left out. I never use the bmt built in plugin so therefore i forgot it... IIRC you can get to the BMT lookup from from the default Program Info screen for a mediafile? So when highlighted on an episode in TVE go Options -> Program Info.

EDIT: looks like skirge beat me too it

Something else to keep in mind is that version 4 of BMT, that is currently in public beta, does not include the STVi piece. The only options for manual lookups are the webui (which I personally think is greatly improved in BMT4) or the commandline tool.

I very rarely use the manual lookup, as well. BMT3.1 is already quite accurate for TV shows, so if BMT4 is even better, I can see why the manual lookup has gone away and I'm fine with that. I'll just raise bloody hell with stuckless if I find a lot of errors I have to keep doing via the webui or commandline. (j/k stuckless )

The stvi piece from BMT3.1 still works with BMT4. I've been using it extensively, but I now go to the Program Info screen before using it. It would be nice if it were available in the episode list, but not a huge deal.

I'm getting really picky here, so feel free to tell me to go jump off a cliff.

What I've highlighted in the attached image I've been noticing on both the Group listing and the Episode listings. Basically, the text slightly hangs over the edges of the background shading. It only shows up for Group listings which don't have fanart, but it's always there for the Episodes. It becomes very obvious with light colored fanart backgrounds.

I was looking for something to adjust this, but couldn't find anything.

What theme are you running? BlueTwo Steel (or something like that) I'm pretty sure does not have this problem... Unfortunately, there is no adjustment for this from the GUI. I think it should be fairly easy to add but ill need to take a quick look... basically what needs to be adjusted is the insets for the table cells... I'll see if the insets can be dynamic and if so add an option for it... if not i can point you to where you would need to change the tve code...

You really stumped me with that question. I haven't even looked at themes since I first set SageTV up 2 years ago. It turns out I'm running "iTV" and that's where those backgrounds appear to be coming from. I changed themes and that does fix it, so I may just mess around with the theme's files to get one that works better.

Let me try that before you go messing with code. Thanks for the guidance!

I changed to a fairly transparent unfocused menu background which is working fine. I only slightly prefer the one I was using, so don't feel like you need to waste your time with any coding. I'm sure I'll get used to this pretty quickly.

Case-insensitive sort/group, continuous scroll

I scanned through this thread pretty quickly and didn't see this mentioned. Is it already possible - and if not, can it be an option - to have case insensitive sorting and grouping? The reason for this is:

1) I have a few episodes of reDesign. Those end up at the very bottom of the list.

2) For some reason, some shows end up with inconsistent capitalization. One I'm noticing at the moment is "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart"/"The Daily Show With Jon Stewart". Those end up as separate groups.

Also, it would be nice if scrolling was continuous, i.e., when I reach the bottom of the list it continues on to the top.

Great work on this custom interface! I only just installed it but really like the layout!

razrsharpe will be sure to jump in on the others, but I wanted to throw my opinion out there for this one. Please NO! I absolutely hate this in the default STV. I like just holding down the page up/down button to get to the top/bottom really quickly. I don't want a "slot machine stop" where I can take bets on what line it might stop on. LOL! There has been some discussion about having buttons to jump to specific points in the list... possibly in v2. Perhaps what you really want is a way to jump to the first and/or last item in the list?

Just a thought on this one... any chance that these airing show up both ways in your EPG and that's the cause? As far as I know TVE just looks at the metadata which is pulled either from SageTV's EPG or via BMT's internet lookups. So, the issue would seem to be outside of TVE itself.

Sorting used to be done case insensitive when you were ignoring in/definite articles for sorting (TVE Options -> Groups) but i generalized the string cleaning methods recently and apparently put in a regression (and have confirmed it by looking at my code).... The grouping by title has always been case sensitive.

for v2 ill make sure that all grouping/sorting is case insensitive... in the meantime use bmt or the webui to edit the metadata to have consistent case (will only help grouping). I may fix it in v1 too but no promises... I'm really trying to concentrate on v2.. but if enough little bugs come up that don't take considerable work to fix I'll update v1..

I'll look at adding it as an option (im pretty sure scrolling is a table property that can be dynamic...) ... but im with skirge... i HATE the continuous scrolling... and is the first thing i change in most places i come across it.

you can also change the insets in studio... see the attached jpgs for what needs to change. The insets for the Group and Episode Cell needs to be set (by default they are zero).... something like 0,.01,0,.01 should work or perhaps smaller... ie .01 -> .005.

to edit the panels properties... right click on the panel widget.. highlighted in jpg... and go properties..

When you have seven terabytes of stuff and your fiancee wants to watch her recordings of "The Young and the Restless" - which before on the original STV was a channel up plus a couple of other up clicks - it gets noticed...

yup I'm sure... If/when i push out a small build for 1.x ill make sure to add wrapping as an option... i think what you really want though is better navigation to skip around the Groups... there was a discussion about this somewhere in the last couple of pages...

I'll have to politely disagree on that. I have 13TB of data (~800 recordings) and even with 11 seasons of SG1, I would have hated having the "looping". Do you have your remote set up to repeat page up/down presses? I know that omission caused me a ton of issues.

Yeah, I seem to recall that discussion as well, since I added my own opinion. Definitely looking forward to that feature, too. I still think a simple home/end feature would hold a lot of people over until the "jump" capability is added. But, I don't want you pulling your time away from v2 to add these little things. I'd seriously lock down v1 to bug fixes and focus on v2 for everything else. Unless you get pulled away again for an extended period from v2, I'd stick to that mentality.
