Multi HDD / Multi Tuner

The setup I have now has reached it's limit. I'm going to be buying a new Motherboard, few more Seagate 1.5TB drives, and soon a 5th SageTV HD Theater for my wifes room.

I'll be setting up multipul networks, one for internet / ReadyNAS, 2 for my 4x HDHomeRuns, and one for the 5x SageTV HD Theaters.

As it stands now I have a system drive, a 500 gig drive for sage, and a 1.5TB drive for the recordings. I want to add a few 1.5TB drives, but I am trying to figure out if I want to raid the drives or if I want to keep them separate and just let Sage figure out what drive to use. Recording a few things and playing back on two front ends seems to be pretty taxing on one drive. Here is my question.

If the schedule is set up to record 6-8 things at once, and there are 4 drives with plenty of space left, will Sage use all 4 drives or will it just use one? Maybe I could set it up so that these two tuners use drive A, these two use drive B and so on...

Side note, if I decided to use a raid, I would be using a real raid controller not on board. Proly:

Anyway what are your thoughts on optimal storage in a pretty tech heavy home with 3 kids?
