Brilliant!

Really excited about this one - keep us posted.

As for hosting the RSS feed, this SHOULD be able to be done in Jetty as well, which is something most advanced sage users already have up and running. This would remove the need for IIS.

I just bought it and realized that Playon needs WMP11, which doesn't run on Windows 2003. There are some hacks out there to make it work, but do I chance compromising my extremely reliable Windows 2003 Server?

Anybody else use those hacks to put WMP11, and thus Playon on a Win2003 box? Any bad after affects?

I had it running on my WHS. The hacks are fine and didn't cause any issues. But the 1 thing I did notice it when Playon is streaming it is going to the C drive of WHS. With only a 20GB partition I had come close and actually filled up the C drive once. I now run playon on a diiferent machine.

Thank you so much for posting this. I think the PlayOn quality looks great on my setup: SageTV box Intel E5300 processor, WinXP to a PS3 over 10/100 ethernet.

By the way, the Roku is an EXCELLENT machine! Best $100 I've paid for entertainment (given the Netflix membership)! It is truely plug-n-play.

I see PlayOn can be used on the HD200 - but what about the HD100? I can't find any instructions on setting it up with the HD100. I'd be willing to buy PlayON (and might anyway) with the current coupon offered if I can get some use out of it while I still have my HD100. I plan on upgrading to the HD200 sometime - and the possibility to stream Netflix via PlayOn might just push me in that direction anyway.

The HD100 doesn't have a standalone mode to be able to access upnp.

It looks like it will be using PHP v5. I don't know anything about Jetty, but any webserver that supports PHP should work. A buddy of mine is putting this together for me, so as far as I am concerned he can use whatever he is comfortable with as long as it works in winblows. I have promised him quite a few number of beers to say the least.

What type of PC are people using for Playon? My Sage Server is a powerful enough quad core, but I am running WHS on it so as Gene mentions it only has a 20GB C drive.

My next choice is a P4 3GHz which the playon site says is marginal to low power according to how I read it. Any suggestions?

I would like to test and if I like it buy on the last day (today) of their special.

there is another thread (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44338) which seems to have found something potentially workable for all extenders (i.e., doesn't require standalone mode).

Brent also blogged about it on geektonic.com

Great news, Thanks Matt. I always felt a little "cheated" after only having my HD100 for about 6mths before the 200 came out, glad to see us 100 guys are alone and twisting in the wind.
