is there more than one cause for halt detected?

I moved all my recordings to an import directory, and I still got a halt error with 1TB of empty recording drives. The error repeated 60 times until I plugged the HD-PVRs into different USB ports. I went out today and bought this USB card with a NEC chip, which some forum members have reported as a solution. I'm going to try that first, and if it doesn't work, I also bought 4 new Western Digital 500GB 32MB Cache drives at the store. I did this because I noticed in the SMART data that my 250GB drives have >30,000 power on hours since I built this PVR in 2006. I will post my results here, but I don't have a sure way to reproduce the error. How does Sage behave when a drive is failing?

Is there a real need for PVR optimzed hard drives like the Seagate DB35 Series?

This thread at the SiliconDust website seems to indicate it could be Sage doing this.

The NEC usb card didn't make a difference, nor did the new hard drives. I'm going to continue on the thread HD-PVR Stops Responding ~Once/Day since that is where most of the active discussion of this bug is happening.

I get these messages also, but I really don't care about them, and I'd like to turn them off. Any way to do this?
