AC3 & SPDIF
I've been reading through many many posts, and I can't find exactly what i'm looking for, so i'll just ask.
Is there any configuration that will allow the HD200 to adjust the volume of AC3 audio tracks over SPDIF? I'm aware that DTS tracks just get passed onto to the reciever, but I can't adjust AC3 either and everything seems to be in that format. I don't care if I get stereo or multi channel audio, I just want to be able to control the volume through sage over SPDIF.

No, when you bitstream AC3 and DTS from the HD200 it passes the audio with no modification. Your TV or surround receiver must pick up the slack to adjust the volume. Any device or computer works this way when bitstreaming AC3. In order to do otherwise would require the device to decompress and recompress the audio which would degrade the quality as AC3 is lossy compression.

I've tried setting it to PCM, and It still can't adjust the volume. What should I check?

You might want to try selecting analog output (and keep using S/PDIF, or maybe fall back to analog). It's possible they never do digital volume control, but just adjust the level of the analog outs with the volume control.

I think i'll just get a universal remote and program it to control sage, minus the volume controls which i'll program for the reciever. Sage should address this issue for the next extender version.

You could just switch to analog. You're not losing anything since you're not caring about 5.1 anyway.
And if you want it in the next release, you should file a bug/support request. |
