Archiving Large DVD Episodic Collection.

Our current "Movie only" collection using My Videos - File system (folder view) works fantastic. Great cover art/descriptions from DVD Profiler, very clean and simple. We have 35-40 movies on that screen

We would like to take our "Murder, She Wrote" collection and store it in Sage.
This collection consists of 12 seasons, 3-4 discs per season, multiple episodes per disc.
If I ripped all 12 seasons, and populated "My Videos" we would be adding 36 individual cover art pictures of Murder, She Wrote.

I would like to be able to launch a different screen that just shows the "Murder, She Wrote" collection.

SMW, TVExplorer are beautiful add-ins, but frankly too complex and the screens are too busy!! (just my opinion)

Anybody have any ideas as to how this can be done??

Thanks

I think there are programs that will rip the episodes out to individual files each, which could then be loaded into either individual folders, to be viewed in a subfolder of the video browser, or could be imported into the recordings library, and browsed that way. I've never tried though, so not sure on the offerings available.

Ouch I would use pathfilterexpressions exclude and include and set up a new menu item. Also waftv would work if I where would get around to releasing it.

The SMW looks fantastic on our 42" flat screen
However on our 15" CRT TV using an MVP it can be a challenge to read for
60+ year old eyes.

Did you try changing the rows/colums to less so the images are bigger.

DVDShrink will let you extract each individual episode of a multi-episode disk, however it appears SageMC insists all imported DVD media be pooled into a single file folder.

MakeMKV is another program that will take the episodes and turn them into individual MKV files. I find this helpful for my DVD TV sets. Then you just name them Series_Name S01E01, S02E02 . . . and BMT will get your metadata for you.

My Videos "non-DVD"

What constitutes a "non-DVD" in the My Videos screen?
Can the title non-DVD be changed?

A video file like a home video. Usually a single file in a container such as avi, mkv, etc. Or a TV recording that has lost all of its metadata.

Thanks for posting this! I am bout thru all my DVD sets (still have 6 seasons of smallville and 9 seasons of xfiles to finish).. Using the web server and importing these into recorded tv looks 1000% cleaner than a bunch of DVDs did (and with no quality loss!!!)
