Random channel changes

Running Sage 5.04 server + 3 clients -- haven't seen anything compelling enough to update to v6

One of my clients randomly changes channels when watching live TV. Any ideas?

It sounds like you may be getting stray input somehow. You could try setting debug_input_events=true in your properties file to see what might be causing the channel change in the debug log.

Cool, turned it on. It's done it a couple of times tonight during the football game so I should get some data.

OK, I got it, and even noted the time of a change... now... what do I look for?

Look for an input event in the log before the channel change. Do you have a wireless keyboard & mouse sending erroneous input? Do you have a cat chasing the mouse?

The few lines from the log posted above are like a photo of the barn after the horse has run out. You need to see who opened the door -- check the log before the channel changed to see if it has any indication of receiving an event that could cause the channel to change. If you don't see anything, attach the entire log to a post -- zip it if it is large. It has to be the log from the client that is in use.

ok, here you go... there was a unprompted switch at 8:41 (by the client clock on the overlay) from NFL to Geeks (or something like that)

Did you set debug_input_events=true in your client's properties file?

Unless I'm reading the log wrong, it looks like there are a bunch of channel changes. Were you flipping through channels? Doing any sort of input?

That's definitely not my problem. I've been looking at the mess of logs, and I'm going to try a few things first. I thought it might be my Leapfrog remote jumper deal, but it's not... so I'm going to swap clients and see what happens. I want to see if it's some sort of environmental interference before I go all digging and tweaking.

Update:

Looks like it may not be Sage at all. I swapped clients and had the same issue, so now I'm swapping Streamzap receivers to see if that's the problem.

gah! forgot to turn logging off

thanks for the help Opus!
