Angry DIFFERENT black screen -- main SageTV menu

The system was working fine with 1.4.10 (registered), and does again if I uninstall 2.0 and reinstall 1.4.10.

I've tried 2.0.11b, 2.0.14b and 2.0.15. Was ok with 2.0.11b, except I really use my mouse, so I went back to 1.4.10.

With 2.0.14b and 2.0.15b, I see the startup splash screenn for SageTV and the status changes as it loads and loads the video library.

But, then the screen goes black. I have SageTV set to come up in full-screen, so I get full-screen black. Alt-Escape does show me the Windows taskbar, etc., so I know I haven't crashed the computer. When I switch back to SageTV, it still stays black.

This is NOT the LiveTV issue people have mentioned -- I never get that far. I'd call this the Home screen.

Procedure:
1. I stopped SageTV 1.4.10
2. I copied c:\program files\frey technologies to a different drive as a backup.
3. I installed 2.0.15 into c:\program file\frey technologies
4. I rebooted
5. I started SageTV. It showed that it was starting the 2.0 beta
6. Instead of the home menu, I got a black screen -- black full screen in full screen mode or a black window in windowed mode
7. I uninstalled 2.0.15b, rebooted, reinstalled 1.4.10 and all was well.

But, for now, 2.0.15b (and 2.0.14b) are totally unusable for me.

System:
Abit AN7, AMD XP 2500+, 512MB PC3200, two Hauppauge PVR-250's, Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9600 8xAGP, Seagate 160GB.

Any ideas?

Do you have DirectX 9 installed? It sounds like you're having a problem with 3D accelleration.

Thanks for the help stanger89.

I had DirectX 9.0b installed, but I downloaded it and ran the install again. Upon booting, SageTV 2.0.15beta started up. I crossed my fingers. The Main Menu showed up. The recordings showed up. The music showed up.

I LIKE IT! I use my mouse with SageTV, so I really like that the mouse has been implemented now.

I am having the same problem (with RC1). Reinstalling DircetX did not help, however. What should I try next?

I had a simular experience, turns out that after completely uninstalling Sage then reinstall all is well, almost, it feezes every now and then. Pause, then play brings it back to life.

waffle,

Try setting this line to false:
ui/accelerated_rendering=false

It looks like it should disable 3D accelleration, but it's only a guess so back up the file first. And as always, change the file with sage closed.
