Confused Newby
OK, so where does this program get the channel information, program names and so on if you don't need a cable box?
This info is on my cable line I know, but requires a cable box to descrable and use with the cable companies remote control. Other systems require a internet link and download information. a few days or a week at a time. How does sage do it? I have a DIAL UP so being online or cable modem is out of the question. How about compatibility? WHAT tuner cards do I need? Will this program work with ATI TV tuner cards? If not, WHERE do find links to this HOPINPAPA tv card that I read so much about? Sorry for the stupid question, but for those of you here in the know, it's not so confusing, I'm still not sure what all the ACRONYMS you guess use mean! (Is there a page with "terms" and words used in the forum? ![]() ![]()

To get the basic information about SageTV goto Frey Homepage be sure to view the system requirements.
If you are in the USA, the EPG (Electronic Program Guide) in downloaded from the SageTV server. An internet connection is required. I use a Dial-up connection. SageTV attempt to update once a day, It no current connection, SageTV retries untill a connection is found. The first connection is very long because 2 weeks of date is usually downloaded. After that only 1 or days at a time is downloaded. If you are referring to the HAuppauge cards (250 and 350) go here . |
