Conditional reboot - is this possible?

Hi All

I'm looking to create a daily Windows 7 Task Scheduler process to restart my server however don't wish to interrupt any recording activity or active connections from any of my extenders.

Any ideas how I might do this? Waiting for idle state is a red herring as the Sage service uses so little CPU even when recording and playing simultaneously.

Incidentally the need to restart is unrelated to Sage itself!

Cheers

You might want to take a look at Sage Job Queue (SJQ).

Don't arbitrarily reboot every day.

Thanks - would this take into account active extender connections?

As I said, the PC requires a regular reboot. Worst case I schedule this for say 4am and risk a brief interruption to any recordings.

(Interestingly, 'wait for idle' in the Win7 task scheduler ignores running Sage processes however the PC successfully enters sleep state once all extenders have been powered off and recordings completed).

Honestly, you'd get better returns on your efforts fixing whatever problem is causing this. It is certainly not a normal necessity.

This is because 'wait for idle' is referring to user interaction, not process activity. Sage actively prevents standby while recording/playing, which is why it doesn't sleep until safe.

Absolutely - looks like I'll start looking around for some additional kit

You really shouldn't need to buy anything, unless you've specifically identified a particular device causing the problem.
