HDPVR Blaster in Ubuntu 9.10

Ubuntu 9.10 definately has the HDPVR driver, but does anyone know if it supports the blaster? I am seeing conflicting reports on the web. I have installed i2c and do not see a i2c device getting created, but that does not mean that I am not doing something wrong. I am about to buy a Command IR2, but would prefer to get this working if possible.

I very much doubt it, though I haven't tried it yet. Just for grins, I just cloned the v4l-dvb tree, and that doesn't seem to have IR support yet. The ubuntu 9.10 kernel must have been frozen some time ago, so I don't see how it could have support for the blaster.

Having said that, there's promising discussion at http://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/45077/ and http://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/45420/. So maybe (hopefully) I'm wrong.
