Alternatives to IR Blaster with HD-PVR?

Are there any better alternatives to the IR Blaster? I'm new to using the HD-PVR

I had a hell of a time getting it to work. Then mysteriously it just stopped working. No blinking led when I issue a command to change channel like back when it was working. I know I have the right code set. And get this. Though SAGETV does not change channel by IR Blaster, when I go into the IR Config utility and click the "IR Channel Test" button, the damned thing sends the "123" code to the Dish Network box and it responds. Where's the disconnect between the Hauppauge IR Blaster and SAGETV?

Yould also try serial, or firewire depending on your cable box.

As everyone has said your #1 option for an IR blaster is the USB-UIRT

For even more accuracy go for firewire tuning or serial tuning.

Did you follow these directions? I've set up the HD-PVR on several machines and never had a problem. But you have to follow the directions. Mainly because Sage cannot be installed when you install and set up the Hauppauge drivers and software.
