Play DVD from network share without rescan

I have configured a dvd drive on a network share by adding it to my media import folders and have added a custom SageMC menu item to browse to it with "\\\\networked-pc\\disc"

This works great, even on my HD200s, BUT it requires me to rescan imported media every time I change discs. Is there some way I can tell SageMC to just "scan" the one folder when I select that option so I can simply change discs and hit my custom menu option?

If not, making the rescan faster would be nice too, I have quite a few pictures on a network share and I suspect that is what slows down the rescan. So unfortunately, when I want to do a rescan it takes 5-10 minutes before the changes can be observed. Any tips on doing a selective rescan or a rescan on media change would also be appreciated.

Did you ever get this working? I currently have my server's disc drive available via media import in my video library, but would love a solution where I can launch directly from a menu item to play the disc...
