Feature Suggestion: Event Timer
Howdy from Alaska!
I have been following your site for quite some time and I must say I am impressed with your product and the timeliness of updates and feature additions. I was unsure where to post this, but I think it should go here (please move this post if it belongs somewhere else). I was wondering if your product line includes a playback timer, or if this feature could be easily added? I envision this as a modification to the scheduled recording module, where one could schedule a Sage product to play a particular file at a certain date and time (better yet, a playlist of files). For example, if I was having a party, I could schedule my own programming from previously recorded shows, create a play list, and have a Sage product automatically start the "show" at a determined time. This would be very useful to me. I am also wondering what file types the Sage products support (in terms of playback; besides mpeg)? Many thanks for your hard work on a wonderful application. Both SageTV and SageRecorder support the playback of any media file (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, AVI, MP3, etc.) as long as you have the proper codec installed, i.e. divx.
The playlist request is something that isn't currently available but we can look at it for the future.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I think I will try out J. River Media Center as an event timer (at least until it becomes an option with Sage Recorder; hopefully). Does anyone else out there have any ideas/suggestions for scheduled playback? Thanks. |

FYI - I tried J. River Media Center's Media Scheduler, and it does not appear to be very stable (at all: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t). Does anyone have any suggestions for scheduled playback of media files? I could really use some help here. Please?...... I did a lot of searching for an app that would allow me to schedule playback of mpeg files, but I was unfruitful. I am not a programmer, but I would think that this would be fairly easy to do (but I could be totally wrong). I am willing to pay for this functionality. Thanks in advance.
