Question add a HDTV, now my system goes nuts

things were working great 2 days ago. I could watch SD (catv) or HD (OTA) on my 12yo TV just fine using svideo. I also recently tested HD using the video card's HDMI output to a projector and it worked great.

I tore apart my Home theater and upgraded to a Vizio LCD HDTV. Now I get the following problems:

-SD live TV, OK.
-SD recorded audio is 3-5 seconds ahead of the video
-HD live video is uselessly choppy (show a couple frames. pause, skip ahead after 5 seconds, repeat) but audio seems OK (I cant tell if its in sync)
-HD recorded programs play back somewhat usable and clear, however the audio is 3-5 seconds ahead of the video.

video played out the RGB monitor port... dont get me started on HTPC HDMI audio compatibility with Vizio TVs.

Processor utilization seems a bit high to me, but I dont recall what it was before getting rid of my SDTV.

any idea what is going on? I beleive it all works fine if I watch via my old HTX-1000 HD media extender in the other room.

this system is a ASUS M2N-PV HDMI motherboard using the onboard ATI video card (includes HDMI output) with 2GB RAM and a dual core Athlon 6400+ processor.

bad server hardware.

after much trial and error, I went back to my Gen1 box. (I went to this box due to onboard VGA w/HDMI).

rolling back to previous hardware solved quite a few problems, including the system preventing audio to work on HDMI ports.

so either I had a bad MOBO, or the ATI 1200 express card isnt quite as DXVA compatible as advertised. my nvidia 8200 is purring like a kitten with smoooooooth video.
