Computer Support/recording issue

Hello All, I have a long post of explaining but here is the basic problem. My Hauppauge HD-pvr and pvr-500 cards used to work flawlessly until a virus hit my system. Cleaned up my system and virus free but having issues when recording form the Hauppauge cards (my 3 hdhr work flawlessly), I get a start and stop recording (get patches of not recording) and sagetv seems to stop responding but later starts responding again (maybe because of the start stop patches of recording).

-malwarebytes and advast = clean system?
-I used HCWclear
-installed 1.56 drivers for HDPVR and fresh drivers for pvr500
-uninstalled and fresh install of sagetv
and still get the start and stop if I use either HDPVR or pvr500
I think something (divers/files) is wrong or corrupted. I cannot even burn a cd. It gets somewhere close to the end or midway and gets an error (sure it might be related). I running windows xp.

Anyhelp to help me pinpoint the problem. I know a fresh INSTALL of XP would probably do it but I don't have time to take the system down for that long.

Edit: Do you think maybe there is a rootkit which malwarebytes or advast (doen't detect on startup)? What program would be great to use to detect rootkits?

I've used this before.

Personally, if it were me, I'd wipe the entire machine and reinstall everything. While it is possible to remove a virus, it only takes one small oversight, and you are completely infected again

BTW... sysinternals has some other great utilities for exploring windows. Surprisingly, they are still doing some great stuff, despite the fact the MS bought them out.

I've used Combofix to repair several computers of friends and family that have been hit by some really nasty malware that other malware and antivirus scanners can't quite get to. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix

Rootkit didn't bring up nothing and Used combofix and posted in their forum. I think there is a 2 week+ turnaround. I guess I have to wait. Only have my HDHR working for now. mininova disappeared. I guess I'm SOL.
