Hauppauge HD PVR 1212 Blank Screen

I just got my HD PVR (1212) the other night. I install and hook up but as soon as I plug the USB cord from the HD PVR to the PC the screen goes blank on my TV, I remove the USB from the PC, the video pass through works and I see my video on my TV.

I'm using the most recent driver on the Hauppauge Site which is 1.5.6.1.

Any suggestions? I really would like this one to work so I don't have to send back and have them send me another (what Hauppauge support suggested after troubleshooting).

Have you tried cycling the power to the HD-PVR after plugging the USB cord in? What about rebooting the computer? It might be something weird where the power to the HD-PVR needs to be off when plugging it in to the computer.

Take a look at the "How To" thread linked in my signature and see if following those instructions helps at all. I doubt it would have an effect on the loop through feature, but it has helped a lot of people get a more stable HD-PVR in SageTV.

I thought I've tried everything and am just bottom line frustrated right now. I'm going to uninstall and go by the book in a bit in hopes of that helping.

Are you sure you have optical cable plugged into the "in" and not the "out"?

Yes... I'm not that silly.

I cleared the drivers and went by the book and it worked. Now I'm off to find out why my video is choppy.
