Post How I got the HD-PVR IR blaster to be reliable. >>Updated Method<<

I am deleting my original post because I ran into a problem but also a solution for it. I'll describe below..

My old method was to relaunch the Hauppauge Ir.exe application for the HD-PVR blaster every hour to keep it always tuning channels successfully. This got rid of the problem of the Ir.exe program becoming unresponsive over time. I used the windows scheduler and checked the box that said to only run the script if the computer was idle but I was an idiot in thinking they meant CPU cycles wise where it means keyboard/mouse input. So, when the IR program was relaunched it would cause an audio/video glitch in any recording that was being made when the Ir.exe program was restarted which was not acceptable.

So, I jumped over to using EventGhost with the SageTV and Hauppauge IR plugins turned on. You make sure the IR blaster software is installed but not set to autorun (remove the Autorun IR entry from the shortcut menu) and you are good to go. I have not had any tuning problems or HD-PVR lockups since then.

Thanks,
Chad
