I use AnyDVD-HD to rip BluRays; if you only have the AnyDVD portion, you're right, but there is an add-on to do that bit.

AnyDVDHD does allow you to rip blurays, I think what was said is that you can't do the 'main movie' type rips with it. It's pretty much a full copy thing. If you're only wanting the main movie, I'd prefer to just go with a single file rip anyways (usually MKV, using MakeMKV). No sense keeping around all the extra index files and such for a single video.

Peter_h, does this negate the need for you to run this directly on your WHS server? I rip my DVDs from my Desktop to a mapped drive that is mapped to my Linux NAS box - so, in that way, it does save to the network.
Hmm, I'll test it again with the new version tonight and see.

Sorry, yeah, AnyDVD HD will allow copying of Bluray/HDDVD, but this method that I'm using (TCClone from Slysoft) only works on DVDs; it expects to find IFO and VOB files, etc.

Ah, I see. Any chance of being able to add the blu-ray ripping?

Possibly, since that is something that I would definitely use myself; however, there are different ways to handle BR and I'm not sure how people would want it done (i.e. the whole BR structure, a MKV, a TS, a M2TS?). Right now, since I am starting from scratch, I am considering using the original BR structure since Sage has better support for it now and should hopefully mean less work for me.

Anyone in this thread have a preference?

Actually, sage has very minimal support for bluray structures. It is limited to hd extenders only. M2ts or mkv world probably be better for single movie mode.

Seems like there is a tool to do this already, using AnyDVD HD. I guess the only benefit would be combining into a single tool, but since Clown_BD does a good job already, I'll just focus on making this work for DVDs.

Excellent utility - works perfectly for me.... thanks for sharing.

Is there any way to generate a txt file with the contents shown in /GUI window? My intent is to import this information in Sage as an STVi so I can track progress instead of having to manage external windows.

Maybe try piping into a file?

truncate log: anydvd-rip-wrapper.exe -blah -blah > logfile.txt
append log: anydvd-rip-wrapper.exe -blah -blah >> logfile.txt

not sure if i'm writing to the console correctly, but this would work if I am.

Thanks for the suggestion. I used the following command:

auto_dvd.exe D:\ F:\Movies /Full /Gui /Batch >>C:\DVDlog.txt

The command did create a text file, but its contents only reads "AnyDVD Rip Wrapper 0.9.19" - I guess it just grabs the window header.

Clearly I am not an a console expert - any tips on what I may be doing wrong?

I also tried running the program without /GUI or /BATCH to see if progress details would appear in the command line. I found that the GUI shows up even if it is not called.

Release 0.9.20

1) Fixed array search error for detecting command-line flags which resulted in always starting the GUI.
2) Started cleaning up the code a little, being better about declaring variables.
3) Was able to strip more fluff out of the compiled version of the program and compress it a little bit more.

Excellent - GUI remains hidden if not called and I was able to port status to a text file for a successful DVD backup (attached). The file provides the same status details as in GUI plus details about what's happening at every percent completed. I am not sure if this is obvious, but specified directories need to be present in target otherwise command will result in error (unike other cmd arguments that create directory if not present).

For the next task, I would like to devise a way to import that text file into Sage so I can track status from within the application. I am thinking about working with ShowTextFile STVi I still need to do some research if this will work and also devise a way to get updated status from the text file as it is written.... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This is good, right?

Should I just go ahead and create the path as specified if it doesn't exist?

I'm useless at Studio. Give me an API and I could automate something, but STVs are beyond my creative capabilities.

I think the output is excellent and really workable to somehow import into an STVi - I am also currently useless at Studio, but I have aspirations of getting better. I will tinker around with it and share what I find. I just think it would be really cool to keep it all within the same application.

Also, I would personally not bother about creating a path if it does not exist - chances are that a user would set-up all directories for a solution like this before implementation.

I think I found another bug - only Main Movie copies in both Gui and cmd-line versions even if full movie is specified.

You did indeed...never really tested that I guess since I don't use that option myself
