Works great for me Thanks for making those last changes.
I am actually using this program as main DVD backup utility. I was using DVDFab, which is a great app, but the combination of Auto_DVD + AnyDVD rips faster and I think has a better chance to seamlessly integrate with the Sage STV. I am still looking into integrating this whole process into SageMC and add it as a "native" process to the STV. It would be great to have a popup showing "Play Disc" and "Rip Disc" in the "Play DVD" menu and be able to show progress of the rip under "Video Conversions". At least that is how I would design it - having the skills to do it in Studio is another thing altogether. Anyone else interested in something like this? |

AnyDVD auto update - unattended
This script works great! Now that I can rip my DVD's easier is there a way to automatically update the AnyDVD software unattended. Just automatically do it once a day. This program seems to get an update daily and my wife is tired of seeing the "update notifications" all the time. I know there was a C+ proggy to do this floating around at one time but I cannot find it. Anyone?

I didn't want to make this terribly complicated, so this is how it works:
And because I didn't want to play with storing past version files or where to store them, I'm just downloading the setup file to your temp dir - if that same file is already there, then there are no updates newer version below So, unless you normally download the setup file to your temp dir and it hasn't been cleaned in awhile, anyone that runs this for the first time will see it download and reinstall anydvd. Oh, and it doesn't schedule itself to check, but I can probably add that. Last edited by KJake; 04-09-2010 at 08:27 PM. Reason: removing old link |

The only thing that I didn't catch is that when a new version is actually installed, the AnyDVD settings dialog is opened after setup is complete. If you reinstall the same version, this doesn't happen. I've updated the program to now actually detect what version you currently have installed, updated the GUI to give some more info, and added some more error checking and it will try to close the two windows that open after setup is complete. rev 2 |

worked here too.
Tried on my laptop which has anydvd too. Now... It closed anydvd then updated it but did not restart it. When I did start it I got the options screen. Is there a command line switch I can use to start anydvd without that every time it updates?
Good job! |

There may also be a registry entry that gets added when a real update takes place, and that may be causing those dialogs to open in the first place. When the next update happens, I will watch for that to see if just removing it is the answer (rather than basically clicking on OK for you twice). |

Is there a way to have the target folder default to a certain, specified folder? Or perhaps have it default to the last used folder?
I'm just looking for a way to eliminate that one step another person running this in the house. Thanks! |

Hi KJake,
I was wondering if the tool could include an option or command line string for ripping to .iso or to a folder? I would be interested to use this for blu-ray titles... I'm not sure if there is a way for the tool to determine if the disc is a DVD or blu-ray and select the option accordingly. Just a thought. BTW - I continue to use the Wrapper tool and it works perfectly with my setup. Thanks so much for putting this together. |

Release 0.9.20.19:
Download All options are ignored when a BluRay is detected and it rips the whole file structure to the Target path from Source drive. If people like having an ISO more, I can look into getting more complicated and detecting the type of disc earlier in the program and presenting contextual options based on type. |

Hey KJake,
I tested the new version and it works as promised - it ripped the BluRay into file structure based on where I specified within the commang line with no issues; very cool. I also tested regular DVD ripping with the tool, just in case, and this continues to work perfectly, so Ripping to .iso would certainly be a great add-on. It would also be nice to have the process run "silently" so that the AnyDVD window doesn't show up and all information is included within your program. At any rate, building-in the intelligence to perform different actions by type of disc is excellent. |

I’ve been using your tool and have found it to be pretty slick.
One small request. It would be nice to have the ability to manually type the path and folder/subfolder names in the Target Folder area of the Rip settings and have this tool automatically create the folders rather than creating the folders before hand. |
