Text Lingering

I have set up the latest Beta SageTV.

Everything seems to be working OK. But one little problem I have noticed is that the text and highlight backround seems to linger quite a while.

For example, I will view a listing of shows to record. When I do a PAGE DOWN, the old listing remains and the new listing is written over it. As you can imagine, it makes for quite unreadable text.

The lingered text does fade after a couple minutes, which leads me to believe it's simply a setting within SageTV.

But a search for Text Lingering turns up 0 results.

Anyone have an idea??

Its the ghosting problem that can occur with certian codec's and VMR9 with 3d acceleration enabled. Try a diffrent codec or switch to overlay. Also make sure to place a bug report.

You can serch on 'ghosting' or 'fading', but the beta 15 notes says it was fixed. If you are using 15 & this is happening, definitely let Frey know via a bug report, like falchulk says.

I am using the Beta .15.

Multiple changes of ov erlay and renderer did not fix the problem.

Turn off 3d acceleration in Sage. This will remove the ghosting for you.

gplasky, yes it will stop ghosting but it will also do 3 things:

1. Change the VMR9 to VMR7, even though you have VMR9 selected.

2. Remove the nice transparent menus.

3. Make the picture a little more fuzzy.

If he must have VMR 9 support, the best thing to do is find another codec. If does not need that, then turning off 3d or using overlay (the best picture quality) is the way to go. Did you read the other replys?

Yes I did. And I figured he tried those. Based on his posting of trying multiple overlays and renderers. I figured this would get rid if his initial issue and he could pursue other codecs later.

hey it happens to me with all codecs when using overlay and nardware acceleration
VMR9 and hardware acceleraion is fine
Overlay is fine without hardware acceleration
turn on color keying and the ghosting will go away but clear background then
