rule of thumb for developers, everytime some asks "when" move delivery date back random(x) days.

If we could have it out then we would as we'd love to see peoples reactions to our work but things change, improvements are made, things break again, real life gets in the way etc etc.

We are doing our best to get something out which not only looks good (IMO) but also functions well and unfortunately these things take time.

Screenshots and videos are not only a good way to get people excited and let you see what we're doing but they also help us maintain momentum and encourage us to continue...... after all its for free and we need to get something from it as well (apart from the challenge).

Completely understand. But also seeing the videos makes us like kids waiting for Christmas. It'll get here eventually, but never soon enough.

Better people asking WHEN, than nobody caring WHEN

Know all too well about RL getting in the way of what you WANT to do. Never enough time.

Extenders perform ok.... but not great. Oddly enough my HD200 is quicker than my HD300.... doesn't make sense I know but there it is.

On my HD200 using the cover flow view and holding down the right action button I can scroll through 100 movies out of a collection of 793 in 12 seconds.

To scroll through my whole collection takes 104 seconds taking into account the odd blip where I get a spinning circle while it catches up.

Running the same sort of test on the wall view (8x3) takes 34 seconds to scroll through the whole collection.

EDIT

I should've also said that the same test on my pc using cover flow takes 4 seconds for 100 and 26 seconds for the whole collection.

I'm more than happy to encourage. For no other reason than my own selfish need for ortus. You can keep me encouraged too. This studio stuff is difficult. Much more respect for dev's now that I've gotten my hands dirty.

As payback to all the wonderful devs here and all their wonderful products, I promise that I will learn studio and begin contributing when my daughter goes off to college and I have more free time. Unfortunately, she turned 2 last week.

Until then, all I can do is cheer you guys on. Rah Rah, Go Team Ortus!!!!

HAHA! I'd rather send all the devs out to dinner than learn studio.... I have enough projects on the back burner at the moment. And yeah go TO go!

I am new to the Ortus UI discussion. I am resisting the upgrade from SageTV 6.6 to 7 as I'm not happy with the v7 UI. This is one possible alternative suggested to me. Is the project GA so I can look at this as a UI Replacement or did I miss that somewhere in the thread already?

GA? If that means going ahead then yes it is still in private beta. In the mean time I'd still switch to 7 just to get everything else worked out until new ui's come out. Check out Diamond, SMM, and everything else out there.

I think GA is considered 'Generally Available' in the software biz.

No timeframe just yet.... those that helped alot in the last private beta can have a copy of the latest Jar's/STVi whenever they want (its in our private folder).

My extenders aren't a very good test base as I have alot of stuff on my test server and its not all that powerfull either. However I did do some test's awhile back and posted the results a few post's up...

EDIT

I've put another speed test demo on our channel and I guess you could say an HD200 is roughly 50% slower than that.
