Everyone knows Summer is over on labor day. You wouldn't let Apple or Microsoft get away with promising Summer 2010 only to deliver in late September.

I have certainly never heard that definition of summer.. even the summer quarter (Q3) is through the end of September...

I'm with Fuzzy. The seasons are defined by significant points in the earth's circumnavigation around the sun. Summer starts with the summer solstice and ends with the autumnal equinox, Fall then runs thru to the winter solstice, winter then runs to the vernal equinox and Spring then gets us back the to summer solstice.

I always assume the latest technical date when products are announed. Another words "available in the 3rd quarter of 2010" means that the product will be available on Sep 30, 2010.

I lied, it'll happen when it happens.

That's more of a fashion/social statement.

That is a bit US-centric.

And even if that was the case, below the Equator it would be end of Winter 2010

Even the school starting at labor day is going away. Many school districts are starting 2-3 weeks before that, to put the semester break at the winter break.

Really, a whole page debating when Summer ends?

Every time I see a new post in this thread, I'm hoping it's a new screen shot, some info about another feature, or, maybe, just maybe, info about when Ortus will be ready for release. Instead it's people arguing about autumnal equinoxes.

Not really the end of summer, but at least the beginning of the real sports season...

So being in the UK where its pointless debating when summer ends as it never starts time for a thread change I hope!

I love the recent video shots of Ortus (even if they don't see the light of day). My confusion here is that the movies and TV Wall-like functionality is incredibly similar to Sage MyMovies.

Are you guys sharing API's with PluckyHD but maintaining your own metadata in addition to the other stuff Ortus can cover?

Also, I am interested in developing a Music Wall (similar to VMC) as I find the V7 Music UI poor in comparison to the TV and Movie options now on offer. Would I need to do this from scratch or, could it be a metadata interface that works with the Ortus, SMM foundations now being put in place.

Great work and looking forward to running this on my pre-ordered HD300s.

I'm with you on this one; because, without football, here in Arizona, at 112 degrees F today and easily in the 100s into October, it would be difficult to tell when summer ends.

Yes we share stuff but no so much on the SMM project.....the new TV Series plugin on the other hand does use the ortus api and we're all working on that one together.

To be honest your better off starting from scratch as music and movies dont really go together all that well.....for instance poster covers are different sizes, metadata is different, groupings will be different etc.

Cheers
