Recording in Background

I am new to SageTV. I used to use Windows Media Center (MCE) until my OEM tuner card failed. Instead of spending $80 for an out-of-date OEM single tuner card (thru HP), I decided to get a discounted Hauppauge PVR-500(dual tuner) card. After finding out that my video drivers in MCE were unstable with the PVR-500, I gave up and switched to SageTV. Overall, I am happy with SageTV. There are things bothering me. One is I cannot get the Closed Captions to work. I did see a thread detailing CC display issues. I will run through that thread and see if that fixes my problem. The other problem is related to getting SageTV to record in background while I am working on the computer doing other things. For example, I want SageTV to record ABC's LOST at nighttime while I am doing other computer stuff. In the MCE world, Windows would display a red dot in the clock corner to let me know that something was being recorded in background. With SageTV, I have no way to tell if my favorites are being recorded or not. How can I get an icon to appear in the clock area to let me know that a favorite TV program is being recorded in background? djm

Are you using the SageTV Service? The service will allow background recording but it doesn't have a tray icon. If the Sage service is running and SageTV is minimized to the system tray (clock area), you can mouse over the SageTV tray icon and a pop up will show what Sage is recording.

I think there is an add-on to add that functionality. Might want to check the dowloads section.
