Actually, can you double check the Server and Client parameters, as I'm not convinced that you are connected to the Server...

EDIT: You probably let the phone go to sleep, which left the listening thread for the server in a weird state, which is why it's not receiving any data...

Try closing the application (back button from the main menu) and restarting it... Then post those logs.

Man i hope this isnt the issue b/c i failed to mention it yesterday, but based on some of the comments on droid/vlc forums, i also opened port 8000 to udp on the firewall of the sage computer.

I could be completely wrong b/c i dont even come close to understanding the protocols, but everytime someone posted referencing video issues it revolved around udp packets.

Worth a shot.

Hmm, having RTSP also use the same UDP port does ring a bell, so definitely worth a try...

No luck,

I have Port ranges 9200-9300 TCP and 8000 TCP/UDP open and even though it worked 2 times last week it does not now.

As a verification, install VLC on another pc on your network (or just start another instance on your server) and try to open the stream...

OK, so that's a VLC issue... Maybe there's some parameters incompatible with the VLC version that you have or something... If you copy the vlc line from sagetv_0.txt and paste it at a command line, it will start a console, which might catch some issues...

Ok, I think Im getting closer to know what the problem is...

If I try to play a recording the way you mentioned above it errors out big time.

If I try playing a stored DVD by the same means, it states it cannot find or access anything at that location..

I have changed nothing in my setup from when it was working before...

As I said before, playing DVD's is highly dependent on the way it was ripped... If all you did was to rip it to a mpg file, that will play easily, but if you have the whole structure with menus and such, that's not really a video file that you're trying to stream...

SageTCPServer 1.5.8 + taSageTV 1.09

Guide works. Streaming works. Thanks!

As a side note... Froyo is here for the Evo! I loves me some frozen yogurt before bedtime!

Edit:
Thought I'd report back about Froyo. Everything is still working.

Well I just got things setup and so far so good. I even have streaming working on my Droid Incredible. Time to test with the Evo. I was able to play a movie once but without video, the sound was good. I don't think it will work well for me anyhow because my DVD's are not a single file but rather the Video/ts folder structure. Anyhow thanks for the hard work.

Arrgggg,

I had it sending video and audio with VLC 1.0, but the video was very blocky. I upgraded to 1.1 since others had it working better. Now with 1.1 I only get audio! Under 1.0, it also tried to open multiple VLC instances ever time I tried to stream it again. I tried setting it to "Only one Instance" with VLC 1.1, but that hasn't helped get any video.

Honestly I haven't had enough time to play with it.

Using DroidX on Android 2.1.

Could be that the latest parameters are not as compatible... Not trying to stream a DVD, right?

No - just recorded TV. I'll try the old parameters next. Probably tonight.

When the last time I posted, I provided Fonceur with new settings that worked (integrated into SageTCP 1.5.8) for streaming over 3G using my new HTC EVO (taSageTV 1.0.9) with Android 2.1 after around 2 weeks of tweaking vlc settings and searching the internet. I was getting near perfect streaming using vlc 1.1.0 on my whs server with FIOS service. I was looking forwarded to my EVO being updated to Froyo.

I received the update to Froyo and that is where my problems have begun. I started receiving a "Warning Media file type not supported" message when streaming. I changed back to the original tcp transcode settings and received the same error. I switched to getting everything directly over wifi (changing my server taSageTv server setting hostname directly to the ip address of my server). Still, both the new settings and old settings did not work receiving the same message. So, I upgraded to vlc. 1.1.2 (Newest version) and received the same error. So, I downgraded to vlc 1.0.0 and streaming worked with both the old settings and new settings with the new settings getting better picture and audio quality because it was dropping less audio and video frames.

I was excited. I changed the taSageTv server settings hostname to the ip address of my router and went back to 3G on HTC EVO turning off wifi which worked before but now I am receiving a "Cannot play video - Unable to get to server" message with both the new and old settings. I have ports 9250, 9260 and 8000 forwarded on my router with both tcp and udp. No change from worked before. Also on my whs server, I added vlc to the windows firewall exception list. This is also a change I did which worked before.

I also at one point during testing turned off both the firewall on the router and the whs firewall but also getting the same message. I am really frustrated at this point after it worked so well before to not working at all.

I believe sic0048 is right and streaming is vodoo.

Mythikal reported having success streaming to HTC EVO on Froyo. Was he streaming over just wifi or was both wifi and 3G working? Can he tell us his version of vlc? Was he using the old transcode setting or my new? What is his router and his whs windows firewall settings? Are you using the defualt media streaming player on the HTC EVO or another one? Thanks.

I am still experimenting and hoping I can resolve this? It was the main reason for using the app. Streaming over 3G.

Are you using the same video file for testing, to at least take that out of the equation?
