Version 1.22

- Internal clean up.
- The resynch database button will no longer query for Music/Photo/Video.
- Should recover more cleanly from issues inserting in the database.
- Added Haptic feedback to many buttons.

Version 1.23

- Fix: Was manipulating non existent EPGID.
- Less folder/video_ts will be shown in the list of videos.
- Starting a sync on Music/Photos/Videos will return to the Media menu.

The main motivation for point 3, is that viewing a list as it updates some times causes a crash, which I haven't been able to resolve yet.

Version 1.24

- Fix: Was manipulating non existent EPGID in the details.
- Replace the Title/Title by simply Title in the lists and details info.
- Fix: Episode names could leak in the lists.

Version 1.26

- Pushed the recommended Android OS to 1.6+.
- Added higher resolution images for hdpi devices (i.e. 480x800/854).

So for people with a recent model, the images should be crispier...

Looks crisper on my Milestone

Any chance of the ability to change the background image ? By choosing something from the gallery ?

Good! While it looked better on the emulator, I wasn't sure if it would be noticeable on an actual phone...

I might be able to get it from there or from the SD card... OTOH, as SageTV 7 should be released within a few weeks, I was expecting to install it and refresh some graphics, assuming they look better...

EDIT: OK, I've just installed SageTV 7, and I'm not really seeing replacement graphics from there...

The latest version of SageTCPServer.jar is now available through the SageTV 7 Plugin interface...

It does not make use of any new SageTV 7 features, as I didn't want to break compatibility for users of SageTV 6, but now that the SageTV release is getting closer, eventually it probably will...

Would there be a demand for providing more language options? While some text is embedded in the images, the rest could be read from an XML file. I can add the French support myself, but would need people for the other translations... I am not sure if Cyrillic alphabet and such can be used.

I just recently upgraded to SageTV 7 and installed taSageTV following the wiki.

I have Samsung Epic and taSageTV works fine on it as a remote.

But when I am streaming video it seem pretty blurry that I think it could be better and I am not sure how to improve video or what string to enter to improve the video streaming.

Anyone use Epic that could help me out here to improve my video streaming quailty?

I don't care about the sound since I am Deaf and reason I want to improve the video is because of the Closed Caption that is recorded into the video itself which it a bit hard to read when it fuzzy.

I tried the default stream string and it was very blurry then I copied the string from wiki page which video improve somewhat but I am pretty sure with adjustment I could improve it somehow.

Thanks

Bill

The default settings are basically using width=320 and height=180, so on a recent device with 480x800 or so, that probably isn't the best... Though the more you increase that, the more chance of hitting a bandwidth limit and ending up with something choppy.

For testing, you can look at the log (if enabled) and copy the whole vlc line to a file (myVLC.cmd or such), then tweak it until you are happy with the results.

Is this available for the Android? If so what Android OS can it run on? I've been mostly using Wyse Thin Client PocketCloud Full to remote into SageTV to control it?

But would be nice to do this on your apk though?

Which part of the thread's title, first post, signature or wiki isn't clear?

As the wiki says, it's Android OS 1.6 and up, but might even work with 1.5.

I enabled the debugging

debug_logging=TRUE
sageTCPServer/debugOn=true

then stream a video and looked in the sagetv_0.txt but did not see anything mentioned about myvlc.cmd in the log.

Did I miss a step?

Thank you

Bill

You want to search the log for VLC, and copy that line to a new file that you will create. You can call that new file myVLC.cmd, myVLC.bat or something else...

Yeah I did search for vlc but no result found in log.

Anyway I went back and read the whole thread again to see if anyone post a trancode string that worked best for them and found one post so I tried his string and it seem to be a huge improvement for me on my Samsung Epic

Code:
sageTCPServer/streamingTranscodeOptions=soverlay,ab\=100,samplerate\=44100,channels\=2,acodec\=mp4a,vcodec\=h264,width\=320,height\=192,vb\=750,venc\=x264{vbv-bufsize\=750,partitions\=all,level\=12,no-cabac,subme\=7,threads\=4,ref\=2,mixed-refs\=1,bframes\=0,min-keyint\=1,keyint\=50,trellis\=2,direct\=auto,qcomp\=0.0,qpmax\=51,deinterlace}

I wonder if I could change to disable or reduce audio quality to give more bandwidth to video itself

Thank you

Bill
