Did you restart SageTV after adding the extra ports and adjust the firewall/router?

Well nothing changed from my previous set up (I was already running CQC and Sage clients). But for some reason, it just started working again. At first it seemed like it was connecting and then immediately disconnecting as I could see the connection icon sometimes instead of the disconnected icon. Eventually the server will stay connected now.

I still have problems with the clients, but that was occurring even prior to the upgrade.

If you post the sagetv_*.txt log files, I can take a look... If the system is overcharged, maybe the pings aren't getting through in time causing some disconnect...

Droid

Ok I got a new droid yesterday and decided I wanted to put this app on it and I started following the wiki link on how to get the app on my droid. I down loaded the skd kit and java and installed them on my pc hooked the droid up and tried to execute the skd program and could not get it to run. I go back to the skd page and it says it is for xp only and I am running win 7 64. Now what do I do? or is ther a better way to get the file on the droid?
Thanks
Wayne

Hmm, what exactly were you trying to do? You are supposed to download the TaSageTV.apk to the device and install it (possibly using AppInstaller and/or Astro to facilitate it)... On the SageTV version 7 server you install SageTCPServer from the plugin interface... Configure both and that's it.

The SDK would be if you want to develop your own Android application or something...

I started out on page 1 and read this on the wiki Installation
Since this application will not be available on The Market, at least initially, you might need to follow instructions like these: Installing a non-Market app.
And I tried to follow those directions. I guess I will sound like a dummy, How do I get the app on the droid. I have never had a smart phone until yesterday.

OK, I updated the wiki to say:

Since this application is not available on The Market, there are Android applications like AppsInstaller which makes it possible to install downloaded applications... If you have Astro on your phone (which understands .zip extensions) you can point your phone browser to the wiki and download the newest version (Might need to remove the old one first).

Which Droid is it? I have a DroidX and can simply download the .APK file from the dropbox folder that Fonceur has set up and run it. I don't require any special software. You do need to make sure you set the phone to allow for non-market apps to be run. To do this, press the menu button from the home screen, then Settings ==> Applications ==> Check the "Unknown Sources" box.

No, basically you can download the application from:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/408295/TASageTV.apk

which is hosted by dropbox... The easiest way to grab the current version is through DropBox with the free Android app. If you don't already have an account, you can use the referral link:

http://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTQwODI5NTk

Then let me know the email address you used, so I can share a folder with you.

Have you setup the SageTCPServer plugin in SageTV? That's what TaSageTV needs to connect to...

I downloaded the the server setup and executed it. I also modified all the entries in sage properties and in the client properties using the default ports showed. I have put my server info in the droid and I also put in the client info in the droid. But still no connect. I am going thru a router does that make a difference? How does the app see my tv server to know how to connect to it? I am still running 6.6 sage also

I would need the SageTV\SageTV\sagetv_0.txt log file and possibly the sage.properties file.

It all depends how you set things up... Typically you would use the IP of the SageTV server, which would be something like 192.168.0.x. You can use ipconfig to figure out the value.

OK, so the last version of SageTCPServer that will work is version 1.8.7. You also need GKusnick's Studio Tools. Both of those files would go in SageTV\SageTV\JARs.

Hey everyone using this app. If you you are going thru a router, what did you change in the router to make it work? I whent into my router and enabled port forwarding to my ip # and still cannot connect. My app settings are good because I can go thru my wifi connection and it works ok.
Thanks
Wayne

Hi Wayne,

Couple of things to check:
  • Do you have a service like DYNDNS to map a domain name to your router set up, this is required?
  • The phone app should point to this dynamic DNS name that you registered.
  • Whatever ports you map they must match what is configured both on your phone in the application and in the configuration for sageTCPserver.
  • Are the ports in question turned on?
  • Have you tried the same configuration using your WiFi to validate your Sage configuration. This is a good first less complicated step to eliminate the router port forwarding.

-Ben

Just started looking at the multiple streaming profiles.

One minor UI error I noticed. When you click to change the streaming profile, the pop-up window says streaming delay.
