With a good connection I have always found the streaming to be reliable. The thing that it lacks is the ability to move forward or back or to resume playback from the point previously reached.

There is a version 2.51 on the android Market (repackaged 2.50), but it shows up as not compatible on GoogleTV. Version 2.52 should show up on the Android Market within the next 24 hours addressing that issue...

Anyone using MX Video Player? What kind of streaming does it support?

I had big hopes in Mirage beta and Vitamio, but both projects haven't had updates in a while...

I'm using it.

It plays almost every thing : See more http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/...o-file-format/

I love it.

Would love to buy your app, but I switch between 2 phones a cuople of time a week, and every other app I can use on multiple phones.
Why not ours?

It's not a question of local file playback, but can it stream everything? For example, are you able to stream:

http://devimages.apple.com/iphone/sa...bipbopall.m3u8

or let say have VLC stream through RTSP and have the MX video player access it?

If you purchase through the Android Market or Amazon.com, then it will be just like any other apps... It's the non-Market version which requires a special registration which does not support multiple devices.

If I open MX video player and point to your link, then it play just fine.
If I press the link in Android standard browser I do not get the option to play via MX video player.

VLC stream through RTSP works fine too

OK, thanks, so time to email them and see if they are more responsive than the other dozen streaming app authors I've tried...

Fingers crossed!!

MX video player has Support of lots codecs hardware acc.
So it would allow us max quality vs bitrate and raw cpu power in server.

Here is a test version to stream using MX Video Player. Pick a video file, use the option menu and the last 2 choices are for the free and pro. Of course you need the player already installed...

To report problems, you probably want to install the Android application aLogCat or such...

First of all, the MX Video Player author is responsive.

I can launch playback of a demo video from Apple just fine. But currently, it doesn't like something from the iOS streaming plugin, so we'll see...

...still waiting for the GoogleTV 2.0 update on the Revue. Would be awesome if it could act as emergency replacement of a HD300 using MX Video Player.

From what I read, MX Video Player does not support GoogleTV currently...

okay here goes:

Followed the guide on http://talluscorp.com/mediawiki/inde...r#Installation

Did do the setup to stream using rtsp.

The remote controller works, but when I try to stream a video I get the error "not able to play" or so (translated form danish) when using MX video player. It is the same trying to use the standard android video player.

Is there some VLC settings that I need to change?
Please see attaced log

First thing, make sure that VLC is really located in:

C:/Program Files/VideoLAN/VLC/vlc.exe

or configure SageTCPServer to point to it...

Second, you could create a stream.cmd file with the content from the log:

Code:
"C:/Program Files/VideoLAN/VLC/vlc.exe" -I dummy --one-instance --extraintf oldhttp --sout-keep --no-sout-rtp-sap --no-sout-standard-sap --rtsp-caching=5000 -f "D:\Privat mediaer\Recorded TV\JagtenpRdeOktober-Amrspndingsfilmfra1990-1771201-0.ts" --sout "#duplicate{dst='transcode{soverlay,ab=100,samplerate=44100,channels=2,acodec=mp4a,vcodec=h264,width=352,height=240,vfilter="canvas{width=352,height=240,aspect=16:9}",fps=29,vb=200,venc=x264{vbv-bufsize=500,partitions=all,level=12,no-cabac,subme=7,threads=4,ref=2,mixed-refs=1,bframes=0,min-keyint=1,keyint=50,trellis=2,direct=auto,qcomp=0.0,qpmax=51,deinterlace}}:gather:rtp{sdp=rtsp://:554/stream.sdp}'}" vlc://quit
then open a command prompt, execute the file and see if there's any error... If all is good, try opening

rtsp://<server>:554/stream.sdp

where <server> would be replaced by the actual IP of the SageTV server pc, like say 192.100.0.100... First open it in another instance of VLC itself, then try in MX Video player...

Ok.
Vlc did open on server and asked to be allowed though firewall (windows prompt.) and I allowed it.
So that tells me that Vlc is installed the right place.
when i try to stream a cmd window starts up and doing stuff.
when I get home from work today I'll try the things you say.

I have SageTV v7 server and clients on two other computers. Could I use this App to watch SageTV on my new Kindle Fire? The SageTV server currently has VLC v1.1.x installed. Do I need to roll it back to v1.0?

Thanks,
Yikes

Only testing will tell you, as streaming is highly dependent on the Android hardware/software... Every release of VLC breaks something different... I seem to remember 1.10 breaking the single instance or such.

I am hoping that the Android app MX Video Player will become the holy grail, making it possible to use the iOS streaming plugin properly, but we're not there yet...

Using your code gives me warrnings from VLC 1.11 and video can not be played.

But if I start a rstp stream up using VLC's guide, then I can stream just fine.

OK, so you could edit in SageTCPServer the VLC parameters to match it...

Happy holidays!
I'm trying to get the streaming working before buying the full version, and am working my way through this with some troubles. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Here's the output from the suggested stream.cmd... I've downgraded to vlc 1.0
