Question STB Tuning?

I can't see how to do what I want here..
(it might not be possible, in which case, can it go on the wishlist if not already there?)

I have my satellite "STB" (actually living in the loft) set up to come into the PVR350 on channel 65. Obviously there are 500+ channels actually available on that channel to the PVR, depending on what channel the STB is set to.

What I want is to be able to create a channel called 'Sky One' (for instance) which uses Tuner channel 65, and has a number '106' (the STB channel) associated with it so that can be used for the IR control to switch the STB channel. The tuner is also used for terrestrial analogue signals, so it needs to switch to other tuner channels.
(This number (eg 106) could be the same as for the 'preset' I've suggested elsewhere, but you'd need to be able to allow gaps in the preset numbering)

Showshifter can do this quite well (if tedious to set up), but it seems not to be present in SageTV yet.

(I don't think this is that unusual a setup, at least in the UK).

Also, this leads to another complication - what if I have 3 PVR250s in my PC and SageTV decides it wants to record from 3 different satellite channels at once? I only have one STB, so it'll mess things up.

I suppose I could associate one PVR250 only with the STB and the others with terrestrial analogue, but that would be a bit limiting (I often want to record 3 terrestrial channels at once). Also the current XMLTV plugin (which I need because I'm in the UK) doesn't support different channel sets for different tuners.

You can set an input to be on an RF channel but still have IR control. It requires editing the properties file do to it. You can post the mmc/encoders section of your properties file here (DO NOT POST THE WHOLE FILE), and I'll show you the edits you need to make to enable that.

Whoops....

Setup yours to use the composite input with the IR transmitter, then repost that same section. Then I can show you how to bind it to channel 65.

Question

Eh?

Set up what to use Composite input? I need UHF input to get the terrestrial channels, don't I?

I haven't got an IR transmitter working yet - I'm still developing the plugin for that.

I still have a concern about the STB - I have three tuners (only two at time of posting that message, but I have a third one now), but I only want one of them to be able to try to record from the STB (and terrestrial UHF channels) and the other two to only get terrestrial UHF channels (otherwise I'll get conflicts with all three tuners trying to use the STB).

I can't see how to do this with XMLTV EPG data at the moment - I'm not sure if that's a limitation with the XMLTV plugin or with SageTV.

The composite input was so your IR transmitter settings would appear in the properties file, but as you're not using one yet, that's a pointless step. All you need to do is change the line:
mmc/encoders/1642691032/1/0/video_crossbar_index=0
to
mmc/encoders/1642691032/1/0/video_crossbar_index=65

Then it'll tune to RF channel 65 on the tuner for that input's channels.

To get the multituner setup you're referring to with the EPG Plugin, it would need to be setup to allow you to add different providers. That way you could assign one lineup to the UHF tuners and another one to the STB/UHF tuner.
