PLUGIN :: twiederTweaks

Hello again!

I have released twiederTweaks for SageTV7. This is a collection of UI modifications that my family has liked.

INSTALLATION:
This plugin is found in SageTV7 under SETUP | SAGETV PLUGINS | STVI

To enable the diskbar:
Enable the HIDDEN MENUS:
Key in "5309" on SETUP | SYSTEM INFORMATION screen.

Go to SETUP | DETAILED SETUP | CUSTOMIZE | MENU HEADER DISK SPACE BAR OPTIONS, click CONFIGURE and make sure ENABLE THE DISK BAR is set to YES.

DETAILS: (new items in BOLD)
This is a collection of SageTV7 interface tweaks:
:: GLOBAL ::
  • Added the disk-usage bar to the bottom of the screen
:: RECORDINGS SCREEN ::
  • Removed the "REC" indicator next to active recordings, moving remaining indicators to the right (for more title/episode space)
  • Added red background to listings for currently active recordings
  • Offset the episode name
  • Added the airing date to the right of the episode name
  • Removed the numbering in the right panel for group recordings
  • Made watched episode names fonts style configurable in right panel for group recordings
  • Made unwatched episode names fonts style configurable in right panel for group recordings
  • Added a configurable date to the episode name in the right panel for group recordings
  • Added a setup menu to configure these tweaks
  • Added Season/Episode option indead of dates (listed above)
  • Added Season/Episode to detail screens

    Note: to sort by Season/Episode, use OrigAirDate or ShowID

RELEASE NOTES (better late than never)
0.7.5
  • Right panel sorting is now working
  • Right panel scrolling bug fixed
  • Removed colored border from currently recording show listings

This is a work-in-progess. Let me know if you like these tweaks, or what changes you would appreciate

The disk status bar doesn't seem to be showing up on my install? Do I have to install plugins in a certain order, or do you know if there are conflicts?

This is not working for me either.

No still nothing. Re-started Sage and uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing.

Would it not be a better idea to have the settings under the plugin than detailed setup?

Check your sageClient.properties (or sage.Properties if you don't run in service mode) for opus4/diskbar_enabled, make sure it = true.

Thanks, installed it last night and it works great.

I did not have an issue with the diskbar not showing up.

Suggestions:

Can you make the right side of the disk bar slanted and butt it up next to the SageTV logo? That way it maches the default theme a little more.

Works great - thanks very much.

Not to be a pig, but since you asked for suggestions:

- I like the way the Malore menus show the episode number and sorts by that field - this allows me to see if I am missing any episodes of a series.

Otherwise, this gets close to replacing my need for the Malore menus (using which requires quite a jarring transition under version 7 - at least until those menus are updated.)

I had to key in "5309" (Malore Extra's activation) in system information screen to make it show up for me...

This is probably where I'll end up putting the disk space bar when I get the hidden extras updated.

Quote:
* Made watched episode names italics in right panel for group recordings
* Made unwatched episode names bold in right panel for group recordings
Just so you know: this goes against the default STV's use of bold for airings -- bold is now used to indicate whether something is a MR or Favorite, instead of the old style white box around the airings. Besides, if you are using the standard italics way to indicate Watched, then it should stand to reason that the unwatched airings are not shown in italics. (I'm not saying you can't use bold that way; it is your set of customizations after all. I'm just pointing it out in case you weren't aware of our use of bold now & that happens to matter to you.)

Looks like some great additions, though in honesty, i don't think even those would get teh wife to let me move away from malore... Dying to see those updated (at this point, malore really SHOULD be the default UI.. IMHO...)

I don't like Malore at ALL. I'd totally sell all my Sage gear and go with the cable box if they made that the default

btl.

I agree, however my wife found it hard to distinguish PLAIN from ITALIC in that window and asked me to bold it. I give her all credit/blame.

Suggestion:

Move the episode icons to the right detail of a Title contents, rather than being displayed dynamically on the left Title item as they're scrolled through. That would rock.

Same here. But don't think I would go that far

We prefer Malore here as well. I think the thing we especially like about Malore is the ability to scroll down through the shows and see Shows have new recordings because they are in Green. We can quickly scan down and see "wow there is a new Pawn Stars" for example.

Did I miss something? It doesn't look like the new recordings menu has that feature.
