I frequently check in on this thread for the latest news on Sage extender availability. It is the main feature that pulls people from WMC and other options. I would like another extender for myself; and I have put together specs for a new system to use in talking others into a SageTV setup. Alas, the specs contemplate a server with multiple tuners and extenders at TVs around the house. My point is that this problem is likely costing Sage a significant amount of new business since many of us, who promote SageTV to others, are in the same boat. Sage needs to either (1) get some sort of extenders back in stock ASAP, (2) provide some news of when to expect extenders to be available or (3) provide support for something like the Hauppauge 1340 HD Media Player that is available -- preferably, all three. Just my $0.02.

I have to agree, at this point the radio silence is deafening.

It would be nice if they would open up a bit about what is going on.

Part of having a community is communication.

Yes, they need to throw us a bone.

Tell us if there will be more HD200's being built by kids in Outer-Mongolia, or if the HD300 is on the horizion, and is being built one-by-one by a nearly blind, 3-legged, Cyclops in the frozen wastelands of Siberia, and they will be put onto a gerbil powered paddleboat in China nd will take 6-8 months cross the Pacific ocean.

If you would email them and ask they would tell you the ETA for new extenders. This is what I did and they told me they expect them by the end of the month. So if August 31st passes and they still haven't announced they have stock on extenders then ask them again

Please explain what your suggestion would accomplish.

I take it to mean they expect more extenders by the end of the month.

My suggestion should accomplish people to stop speculating that there are no more extenders coming.

It also is them 'throwing us a bone'.. it seems most are complaining about the lack of info, but haven't asked for the info (except in a gripe-fest thread on the user forums).

The point of my question is that I have been recieving the same canned response each month for the last three months, which makes it pretty much a worthless endeavor.

I certainly did not intend for my remarks to be taken as a complaint; and, as for a "gripe-fest", I think "specuation-fest" would be a better description of this thread. Anyway, my observation comes as a fan of Sage who would like to see its customer base expanded. One of Sage's major advantages (extenders) is now being countered by the new cablecard tuners that are all the news. Ultimately, cablecard could once again be a big bust; but, when someone plops down $400 for the hardware, they will probably stick with it no matter what. Sage and its fans like me need to be able to advertise all of Sage's advantages which, at the moment, is somewhat unclear.

I have an HD300 - all you have to do is put an HD200 INSIDE of an HD100 - there's room if you do a little bit of modification on the HD100 case

I've sometimes thought about housing my HD200 inside the server (as it sits on top of it) with the IR receiver still visible. But I'd be worried I'd break it so would only do it if I had a spare HD200 - When are they coming back in stock again ?

@antplugger:

See this thread for details: Any chance the Hauppauge MediaMVP-HD will work with SageTV as an Extender?

Unfortunately the answer to the question is.... No... it will not work as an extender for SageTV.

The latest news is that a batch HD200's should be available 'this month if everything goes well' as George Oms put it.... so no more than 12 days left :-)

I have a review Hauppauge MediaMVP-HD. It hasn't impressed me thus far & as said above will not work as a true SageTV Extender

If George said "a batch of HD200s" and not "a batch of extenders" I'll be disappointed. I want an HD300 with better DTS decoding.

Don't forget to include all text formatting so we can determine proper emphasis.
